Protective cover for bulb had melted
I tried to just replace the cover rather than the whole unit but it was impossible - the cover would not go/stay on. I tried to remove the old unit completely but it would not unplug it was practically fused to the back of the fridge and the liner was cracking. I ended up breaking the cover and jerry rigging it over the bulb to prevent items in the fridge from being able to touch. Bad solution.

Ice maker stopped making ice cubes
I was able to verify that the water inlet valve was ok based on shorting the test points as described in the online ice maker troubleshooting guide. I then ordered the replacement ice maker and received it within 3 days. The repairs went very smooth, remove 3 screws, unplug connector, transfer shutoff wire to new unit, connect power, replace 3 screws. Done. Ice bucket was full within 24 hours.

old ice maker did not work at all.
Unplug refrigerator and turn water supple off. Remove three mounting mounting screws and unplug the old ice maker.(there is a latch on the plug to release it) Remove shutoff arm from old unit or if ordered seperatly with the ice maker, install shutoff arm on the new unit. Plug the new unit in (latch will snap into place when plug is properly seated.) Install the bottom screw (leave screws loose until all are started in the orginal holes). Tighten screws and you are done. Turn the water on and plug refrigerator in. After about an hour or two the ice maker will be cold enough to start making ice. In about five hours or so you will see the first ice cubes!!!!

Ice Maker quit working
I watched the video and made sure my replacement ice maker matched the original. On my particular icemaker/refigerator combination, the electrical connection was slightly different than what was shown in the video, but the process for removal and replacement was very similar. I believe if more videos were available that were of the quality of the one on this website, there would be more people attempting to replace parts. I believe I saved over $200 by doing it myself. Kudos to the website and video people.

The refrigerator would not defrost and would freeze up and no longer cool.
Turn off power to the frig. Remove the shelves and back brackets from the freezer, then with a 1/4" nut driver remove the nuts holding the rear metal panel in place. Once removed the defrost thermostat is right in front of you. You will have to clip the wires from the old t-stat because they are in a harness. Once clipped, strip the wires back, wire in the new t-stat, add wire nuts and put it all back together. Very easy job to do, works great. Thanks Parts Select, Mike.

Ice maker nozzle broke off
Removed front panel by inserting stiff putty knife at bottom and gently prying snaps loose. removed two screws holding electrical board. had assitant hold both out to one side without removing their connections or wires. Cut off old water line about three inches behind broken nozzle. Cut head off a small screw and used threads to connect cutoff old hose to new hose. Pulled both through door and out bottom until new hose appeared. Very easy.
