10650792000 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I had two repair problems. #1- Ice door kit & #2 control bracket. I followed the instructional video and completed repair in under 30 minutes. I surprised myself and had a happy wife.

The hard part of the repair was getting the wife to empty the refrigerator door shelves. Once that was done simply removed the three screws on the door on the top of the door removed the bottom cam located on the bottom inside of the door. One of the simplest repairs I've ever done. Watching the you-tube video was a great help.

Removed outer cover. Removed control bracket which holds the water/ice dispenser paddles. Removed paddles from old/broken bracket, plastic pins were broken where the paddles hinge. Placed on new bracket placed screws and it was done. Very simple repair. Part cost less then $18.00 including shipping. Saved me mucho dollars!!!!

hardest part getting the putty knife in right place to pop off cover---found the plastic bracket was broken where the switch was held in place---- so ordered new switches and bracket ---- got the parts in 3 days--good service--easy job 2 do and saved lots of $$$$$$$$---

After determining the control boards weren't working (by the light was not working) I replaced the control boards. By the way I received the parts in only a day and a half.It only took about 15 mins. The parts came with a troubleshooting guide witch was a little difficult to understand, but I got through it. The new parts were working but still not making ice. The water line had frozen. My wife and I took a meat injector as a syringe and injected hot water in the line and a air compressor I have and blew air into it also. It works again. As a tip try to blow air into the water line with your mouth to see if its clear.

With service sheet, Enter service dagnostic mode, NO-6 is Desrost heater / Bi-metal Component status indicator shows 02 , it means Bi-metal is open, It should read 01,It's cover with Ice ( bellow 32 Dig. F )Mostly it open at 50 dig. F, To replace remove lamp cover and lamp + six hex screw with 1/4" nut driver, pull back cover ( with commen requirement to turn of power and deice the evaporator coil )out, bi-metal element is top at enterance of coil,cut both wire near bi-metal, join new bi-metal with wire nut or Insulated wire Jointer, Tape jonts proper,do neat work no hanging wire, Replace back removed parts back,Turn power back

Removal of the old heating element was really easy. The video on Partselect.com was majorly helpful in reassuring my confidence in doing this repair.

I watched your video and did just as he did. The video made it real easy and rather simple. It looked like it was going to be a mess until I watched the video.

Unplugged the refrigerator removed the cover and 3 screws. Pulled the old part off and replaced with the new and screwed it back on. Replaced the cover plugged it back in and it started working again.

I watched the short video at this website about replacing the bracket first. Then I replaced mine. Everything went smooth. No problems. Try it yourself.

Sorry for delay in writing. Part I ordered arrived two days ago and it was exactly what I needed. Knowing that there will be problems even with the smallest job I procrastinated starting. When I did start this morning I foud I had to completely remove the ice maker and disassemble it in order to install the water fill cup bracket. The challenge was reassembling the unit. Not hard for an experienced repairman but a challenge for layman. Everything is thing is back to gether now and power on cooling down the refrigerator. Won't know how successful it was until turn on water and ice is formed. If it works this saved $75 just to get a Sears repairman to come out and tell me what would be needed to fix the refrigerator and $1,000 if I had to buy a new refrigerator. Extremely satisfied with service I received. Thank you.

Greatest thing about this company was properly describing in an easy clear manner along with the video. A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth? Disconnecting wires in back of freezer was a little hard. I didn't know you would have to wait for a complete cycle before the water would fill and make the first batch of ice. I thought it was not hooked up properly and took it back apart. This time I left it, waited and in a few hours, it started making the first batch of ice. Great company, price and fast shipping. This is for the refrigerator, not the freezer door which is more complicated. First empty the refrigerator door of food and removed the shelves. Remove the hinge cover on the top hinge by removing one bolt. Then, holding the door, remove the top hinge by removing the three bolts in the bracket (not the bolt in the recessed hole). Lift the door off the lower hinge and lay the door on its edge on the floor. Pry the old Door Cam out of the hole in the door with a knife (my Door Cam was ground completely flat). Insert the new Door Cam. Remove the old Lower Door Cam from the lower hinge and insert the new Lower Door Cam. Pick up the door and lower the door onto the lower hinge ensuring the lower hinge pin inserts into the hole in the Door Cam on the door. Reinstall the upper hinge and insert bolts without tightening. Align door and then tighten hinge bolts. Reattach top hinge cover and tighten the single bolt. Test the door to ensure it closes and stays closed. I had to remove the door a second time to rotate the Door Cam slightly to ensure cams were better engaged (tongue in groove style) when the door was closed. Reinstall the shelves and load the door with food.

Removed (snap on)removed screw, and ice dispencer side (door and Pin) You have to assemble to reinstall (not easy to install while assembled) Install the pivot pin the rest of the way with the new spring mounted and when unit is almost in place, install the pivot the rest of the way, install tension hold downs that old both the water and ice dispenser shafts, reinstall cover, reconnect wiring and test, I had to remove the plunger because the water wouldn't shut off fast enough. Unit works great now.
