10650509990 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

My fridge is a little different from the video model. The Controls in the fridge are located on an "arm" which swings down when the two screws are removed from the sides. It was not necessary to remove a front plate or knobs. However, I found when I got in to it that the old timer was not held by screws, but by plstic posts which had these "speed nuts" on them. This is a little metal plate which fits over the plastic post and bends to lock it in place. When you try to remove it, it acts like a barb, holding the little sucker on. I ended up bending the ends of those little suckers up tight against the post and twisting and pulling with needle-nose pliers. I broke one post like others before me commented, but one stayed intact. The only break at the top, so there ie still post left to hold the new timer. Once it was off, I was able to replace easily. The directions for choosing the right prong were a little confusing, but follow your gut and go with the wire colors. My schematic found in the bottom of the fridge did not look like any of the drawings, but I could match the wire colors. I also asked "Just Ask" for help, to make sure. My gut instinct was right. My fridge is now working again beautifully. If a housewife with no appliance repair knowledge can do it, so can you. I fixed my dryer with PartSelect too!I will never call another repair man until I have checked this site to see if I can do it myself. Bet I have saved $600 so far at least!

The ice maker stopped making ice. Cold water was still available at the freezer door dispenser which seemed to isolate the problem to the ice maker control board/motor. My ice making unit was not identical to the one in the video, but close. After disconnecting the power, I was able to replace the control board/motor without having to remove the entire ice making unit. Total time for repair was under 15 minutes.

Undid the bolts to the ice maker, unplugged it and took it out of the freezer. Removed the cover, unplugged the motor and unscrewed the motor from the casing. To install new motor screw it into the casing, plug it in and replace the cover.

Heard double clicking sound every couple minutes. Unplugged unit then using a coil brush, cleaned all dirt, lint, everything from bottom of fridge. Finished with vacuum cleaner. Located start relay. It was on the left side of the compressor. Pulled relay straight off of compressor, much like a plug from a wall. Unhooked two wires from relay. No need to disassemble old relay. Parts received from partselect.com go back onto compressor individually. Using the instructions provided, from the kit, select the correct parts for your unit and carefully attach them to the compressor. Plug in the wire to the relay, then following the instructions, attach the jumper wire and plug into the relay. The cover in the kit is a little tricky to put on but it will fit. Took me about 15 mins and the hardest part was getting the old part off. Plugged unit back in and it started right up. 24 hrs later, everything is working great!

It was not the icemaker, instead it was the water inlet valve. I had ice in one hour. The biggest problem was getting the refrigerator from against the wall.

Loosen two top screws and removed one bottom screw and unplugged the old ice maker. Installed old arm on the new ice maker and plugged in new ice maker to the existing plugs and reinstalled new ice maker. Dumped ice in about one and a half hours. Full bin within 72 hours. Super easy.

Received the part the day after ordering. Appreciated the quick service and repair took less than a minute.

Watched video of repair. Took all drawers and drawer holders out of freezer to acesss back panel. Removed 6 screws from back panel,slid up and out. Cut 2 wires to remove old bi-mtl defroster. splice the wires and attached new bi-metal def.

Using instructions found on the internet and the illustrated parts breakdown it was just a matter of following instructions.

Shut off power,(breaker box), removed the ice container, this had the crusher, makes it easey to remove the timer assy, loosened up the upper hex head screws, removed the lower phillips screw. Dis-connect the feed wire assy. I elected to dis-connect first at the timer unit. Remove the timer cover, then access to the wire connecter,remove the heater unit on the side of the of water pan. Drop the unit out and if necessary change the wire loom at back of refrig-, install new loom if necessary, reverse process on ice unit. Took about 45 minutes +-, marked the timer dial, see if I got rotation, etc. There is ports on the face of the timer to check voltage's. Now will install new water valve , and water filter to make sure all is back to normal. Made ice on start up, excellent service, parts are great, with necessary information. Thanks, bill.

Very easy you pullup and the old bin snaps out.Then you align the new bin to the notches on both sides.then very easily push down on the new bin.And the job is finished.

Thought it would be difficult to replace and expensive. Very easy after all.

ordered a new auger after tearing it apart I found I needed a drum. Thought this might be too much work so I went to Lowes for a new ice maker they sold me the wrong one said the didnt have one & I needed to order, they sent the wrong part. So I ordered the drum from you. So her is a pile of parts that has been settin there for a week. The secret was the video Great Job everything works & I tell everyone how smart I am with your help. THANKS

Told Wife To Watch The Instructional Movie, Got Me A Beer And Watched Football. She Finished In about Thirty Minutes.Good Job

The icemaker on oour Kenmore was fading fast. Ice was only being harvested once every 4-5 hours instead of every two. Then finally it stopped altogether. I did some research and decide that it was the motor assembly that needed to be replaced. I ordered the part and within 3 days it arrived. Within 45 minutes I replaced the part with the assistance of the youtube video. I am not a Mr. Fix-it but this was fairly straight forward. I am now a hero.
