cracked
Part arrived in bubble package, with no apparent visible rough handling. Part (a piece of glass 2.5" by 4 " was wrapped in bubble wrap. Again no visible abuse of wrapping. But the glass itself had a 1/2" crack on one corner and a chip missing. So I have no idea how that came to be. Called customer service and they issued credit, ordered me another and sent me a prepaid ship back label. Excellent service. Too bad the part came to me damaged. I have purchsed several parts from these people and they do an excellent job.

I asked previously, referring to the model number above (me18h704sfs), if the the entire base plate needs to come off in order to put in the new cook top glass. I cannot get the glass or frame out - there are "wings" on the frame/plate and i don't want to break them. How do i get the frame/base plate for the cook top glass off the unit in order to replace the cook top glass? This is my initial question: Do i need to remove the entire base plate in order to replace the glass? I cannot seem to remove the part (ps4233824) in order to put the new glass in place.
For model number ME18H704SFS
Hello Carolyn, thank you for your question. There is a little screw or rivet that holds the lens frame into place. Once this is removed the new light lens cover can be inserted into the hole under the microwave. Then the lens frame is reinstalled to hold the lens into place. The base plate does not need to be removed in order to replace this part. I hope this helps!

Hi Carolyn, Thank you for the question. You should not need to remove the base plate to replace the cooktop glass. If you can provide a model number for the Range we will be happy to help you with information on replacing the cooktop glass. Hope this helps!
