plastic water line through bottom door hinge assembly
This problem applies only to replacement of the bottom hinge assembly on the FREEZER door. Repair of the other side, the non-freezer door, is quick and easy.
The problem with the freezer door hinge assembly is that a plastic tube goes right through the bottom hinge. It appears that this tube supplies water to the ice maker. ... Read more r />
On our fridge, the door could not be removed to do the hinge replacement without disconnecting the plastic tube. There was a junction in the tube right next to the hinge, but the junction would not give, meaning it could not be pulled apart. It appeared to be permanently joined.
So we had to cut the tube with shears. Then the door could be lifted off and the hinge was replaced.
Then the question was how to reconnect the tube. We finally did this by trimming off the remainder of the junction and rejoining the two tube ends by taping them over with lots of duct tape after the tube had been threaded through the hinge. Fortunately there was enough slack in the tube to allow this trimming and taping.
With that done, the door was lifted back onto the hinge, the top hinge insert was replaced, and the job was done.
The duct tape union in the tube so far has not leaked and we don't think it will.

Door sliped down. Closing cam was split and broken
Laying on the floor I blocked up the door. Removed old hinge and cam. First I replaced the cam then I inserted the hinge into the cam. Positioned the door to enable me to refasten the hinge to the Refrigerator. Another way is to empty the stuff from the refrigerator door. Then remove the top hinge take off the door and place it on the coun

ter on a blanket so as not to scratch the door. Replace the cam. Place the door back on the wooden blocks.Insert the Hinge into the cam while the door is standing on the wooden blocks. It would be a great help if you had a second person to hold the door so you don't gets bumps on your head. You first need to attach the top honge withe the 2 screws loosly so the door will move. Then screw the bottom hinge to the refrigerator. If you find that the inside of the door is rubbing lossen the top hing and adjust the door until it closed properly. Also by putting the stuff back on the door may cure the rubbing. Good Luck

The Slots on the new Hinge did not line up on the refridgerator
I popped the rivet of the new hinge I received, removed the plastic bushing and installed it on my old hinge - this was the part that went bad on my old hinge. I re-installed my old hinge with the new bushing, problem solved

hinge set
Was not hard. It was the bottom hinge so we had to take the door off, but that was only a matter of a couple of screws. Replaced the bottom hinge and closing cam, replaced the door and it was done.

This was a side by side refrigerator that will not close on its own.
Door hinge and cam kit was ordered. Removing the refrigerator door was easy. Then I discovered that the holes on the replacement part did not match the opening. After the opening was drilled screwing in the hinge and cam was easy. Adjustment of the door is necessary after installation of the replacement parts. Piece of cake.

Door stopped closing on its own
The bottom hinge and the matching cam needed replacing. I removed the top hinge (which is held on with two screws), lifted the door off the bottom hinge. The replacement hinge and cam were exact. The door went back on with ease and it works like new.
