Compressor won't turn off. Only way to stop the compressor is to unplug it. Thermostat won't turn compressor off and on. What should we do to fix that?
For model number FAM157S1A
Hi Jim,
Thank you for your inquiry. When the refrigerator is working properly, the thermostat turns the compressor on and it will continue to run until the temperature inside the refrigerator is lower than the setting of the thermostat. Make sure the condenser coil in back of the refrigerator has good air circulation. The majority of refrigerators today have a lot of storage space and the it can take time for the refrigerator to cool. If the compressor is not shutting off when the temperature inside the refrigerator is cold enough, you may have a bad thermostat. You may also have the temperature set too high in the refrigerator. Try adjusting the thermostat to a lower temperature. If this turns the compressor off, you had it set too high. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
