Tub Spring

PartSelect Number PS11751118

This tub spring is also known as suspension spring, balance spring, or counterweight spring. It is sold individually. The function of the part is to counterbalance the weight of the motor on the front of the front-load washer so the washer tub sits straight and even during the spin cycle. You may need to replace the spring if tub is sitting tilted forward. A broken spring will result in the tub being off-balance during the spin cycle which can cause further damage to washer parts. It is recommended to check all suspension springs as they often wear at the same rate. Tools needed for repair are a Phillips screw driver, flat blade screw driver, and a pair of pliers.

This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Estate, Inglis, Crosley, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef.

Shaking during spin cycle

Followed the video. Removed the case and holder clips (not really needed) and replaced the springs. It did nothing to stop the problem and there are no more fixes.

Tub moves like it isnot supposed to , parts of the motor coupling were on the floor so I need to replace them ,and while I have it that far apart I changed the clutch.

Each part has a very good video about the procedure to fix the problem , just follow it and you will be good .

Loud bang at the end of the spin cycle and symptoms of an unbalanced load.

After reading everyone elses stories, I purchased all new springs(5), new spring brackets(one of mine was rusted really badly)and all new wear pads(two sets of 3pcs each). The rusted spring bracket was the most time consuming as the screw was rusted into the bracked so I had to drill it out. Other than that, the actual spring replacement was easy. Took maybe 10 minutes. The wear pads were another story. I'm a pretty good mechanic and I had a bit of a struggle getting the old pads out. I used a long, flat head screwdriver to pry them out. Once they were out the new ones weren't too tough to get back in. Took about 20 minutes all together. I stongly recommend watching the video on removing the washer cabinet first. It will save you some time. Acutally, watch the videos on all of the parts to simplify the process. Oh and by the way, all of my washer problems are gone. Well worth my time and $70 in parts. Good web site!

During the spin cycle machine rocks the house

Replaced all of the springs. I put the shell back on and the problem still exists. I thought $20.00 was worth seeing if this would resolve the issue. I don't want to keep throwing parts at it. I noticed some black suit under the machine. I will be buying a new washer.

I than check to see if somethig was stuck no .Pulled motor tested it with out a load and did not work. Motor start winding went. Motor died. 2n one in 7 years.
