Well, I took out the worn parts, replaced them with new ones, end of problems. except that I did not see in the parts book where the new agit came with new cogs . So, I wound up with an extra set of cogs (at my cost). Gotta say one thing though, the service was good and fast, even though it was during christmas holidays. Thanks.

The dogs (directional cogs) cause the upper portion of the agitator to turn in one direction only. The clothes don't get clean unless this happens. The material the dogs are made of wears out in a few months of use.I buy 4 packages of them at once, every few years.Pull off the inner cap, unscrew the bolt, remove the old cogs, put in the new ones, reverse the disassembly process and away we go.
Repair very simple, removed the top cap and lower cap, unscrewed the retaning nut. Removed the agitator. The directions supplied with the kit worked great. Reinstalled and worked like new.
using a schematic from this web site and reading other stories about this problem- I removed the upper agitator assembly-once I pulled off the fabric softner assembly-used a socket with a 8" extension to remove the bolt inside the top of the agitator-pulled off thje upper assembly-spent most of my time cleaning all the surfaces found the 4 clutch dogs damaged- placed the order for the repair kit -2 days later the parts arrived with instructuions making installation easy.
After recieving parts, I installed them easily. After the repair was complete, I noticed some screws/bolts under machine. I added some loctite to bolts and reinstalled into transmission. machine runs like new! Thanks PartSelect!
popped off the softener cap, removed inner seal cap, removed bolt holding the top agitator and removed top agitator by pulling up. Removed the ring holding the dogs in place. Replaced the dogs and slipped it all back together
I watched the tutorial video on the web which was more than anything i can imagine of.Very detail, helpfull and it makes my fixing very easy. After replacing those two items the machine begins to work without problem.
Easily found the Agitator Repair Kit online for a very reasonable price. Swapped out the bad worn down parts for the new ones and presto; cleaner clothes. Researching the right model number was a task, but when the parts showed up and were identical I knew it would be easy. Less than 30 minutes to install with minimal tools. And it was cheap. Even if I called my home warranty co. to come out it would still be a minimal $55 service charge. Well worth it, very pleased, would use PartSelect again.
it was easy to repair with the instructions that were included. the agitator dogs was not allowing the fabric softner to work correctly so by replacing the agitator dogs the fabirc softner now works with no hassles. I replaced the fabric softner part as well.
I took the top cap off of the agitator. I removed the bolt (1) in the shaft with a 7/16 socket, extention and ratchet. I held the bottom of the agitator while I pulled the top part out, turned it upside down and took out the cap, part that holds in the dog ears and removed the dog ears. The dog ears were almost completely stripped out so they were not grabbing and holding the teeth on the inside of the agitator shaft to keep it from slipping. The dog ears were the only thing bad but I replaced all the parts that came with the kit anyway. I didn't notice there was also a seal in the kit so I bought an inner seal that I didn't need but I'll keep it just in case I need it again. I replaced the seal around the inner cap (which was also bad). I put the agitator back in after I replaced the parts (which was super easy) screwed the bolt back in, put the inner seal back in place and pushed in down to lock it in, that keeps the water from getting in where the dog ears are. It works just like new. I would have liked to had a larger capacity washer but couldn't reallyl afford to do that at this time. The parts were cheap and the rapair was super easy. I am happy I could do it myself and saved a lot of money by not having a repairman come out.To all you do it yourselfer's, GO FOR IT! I is only as hard as you make it.Thank youSarah(in sandy Florida)
