This drain pump is specially designed to fit in top load washing machines. It is responsible for removing water from the washer tub during the drain cycle and directing it to the household plumbing system through the drain hose. If you notice longer draining times, grinding or rattling sounds, or standing water in the tub at the end of a cycle, the drain pump is likely faulty. This may be due to several reasons such as normal aging, wiring problems or physical damage. It is also common for the drain pump to become clogged with small items such as coins or buttons.

I have changed the belt, the pump, and the wash temp control switch. The problem is clothes are extremely wet after washing. I have also reset the washer. (Sometimes I hear water running into the washer even during final spin cycle guestioning if that's normal.) What causes the clothes to remain so wet after washing?
For model number MVWC565FWO
Hello Kyle, thank you for writing. There are a few things to check on. Overloading can lead to an imbalance that reduces the washer's spin speed, leaving clothes too wet after spin cycle completes. Also, make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or restricted. It may even be something as simple as the hose being jammed. We hope this helps.

after washer finish clothes have to wring by hand .
For model number WTW5000DW1
Hello Robert, thank you for your question. If the washer is not spin drying your clothes make sure the drain hose is not bent and restricting water from draining out. It is also a good idea to remove the hose from the drain pump and check the pump and drain hose for any blockages. Your washer has a filtering device down and near the pump called a drain filter, check this filter for debris. You can test the drain pump with a multimeter. Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet before you begin. Touch a probe to each of the terminals on the pump. A reading of zero or infinity, means the pump requires replacement. Part number: PS11738156. The belt on the pump or motor may also be worn or stretched. This causes wet clothes after a wash cycle is completed. If there is visible signs of wear, replace the belt. Part number: PS11747978. Good luck with your repair!
The impeller in the water pump has damage. Can we purchase the impeller?
For model number MVWB765FW2
Hello Nicole, Thank you for the question. Very sorry, the impeller is not sold separate from the pump. Whirlpool does not sell the parts to the pump on their own. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

When the washing is done the cloth still soaked, does the pump have a linte filter?
For model number WTW5000DW2
Hello Carlos, thank you for contacting us. There is a lint filter, part number PS11750500, under the basket at the bottom of the outer tub assembly. It traps lint and debris from the draining water. When dirty, this filter can cause the symptom that you have mentioned. Soaked clothes after washing can also be because of slow spin which may be caused by a damaged hub kit, part number PS6012095, and a defective drive pulley, part number PS10057144. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you require assistance placing an order. Thanks again for reaching out!
Machine does not drain properly all the time. If it doesn’t drain, we put on drain and spin and it drains. What could be the problem ? Is there a drain screen somewhere?
For model number WTW5000DW2
Hi Mark, thank you for reaching out. We have researched the model and would suggest checking the control board, part number PS12114296. It manages the washer's functions such as filling, washing, draining, and spinning. If the washer is not draining by itself, the issue might be with the control board. Checking the control board for continuity using a multimeter might help. Good luck with the repair!
Hello Joe, thank you for the question. According to our research, the part you have mentioned is the drain pump. It removes water from the washer during the drain portion of the cycle. We hope this helps!

Hello, I am having a burning smell. i replaced the drive belt and the smell continues but it seems its happening during the drain cycle. How can i tell which part is actually bad? There is a 10 year limited parts warranty. I'm not sure if i can run any "emergency" loads of laundry with this burning smell. trying to fix sooner than later! any help is greatly appreciated. It don't think it quite a rubber smell like a tire might be. that would be helpful if i knew for sure what i'm smelling.
For model number MVWX655DW1
Hi Todd, thank you for getting in touch. Based on the description you have provided, we would suggest checking the drain pump, part number PS11738156. MAYTAG MODEL MVWC565FW0. CLOTHES COME OUT WET AFTER SPIN CYCLE. I REMOVED THE DRAIN PUMP AND FOUND NO CLOGS. IT RAN LAYING ON MY BENCH. WHAT ELSE CA I LOOK FOR?
Hello Bruce, thank you for reaching out. If the washer is unbalanced or overfilled, it may struggle to spin and cause the clothes to still be wet after the spin cycle. Removing some items from the washer or balancing the load in the tub should resolve this issue. Make sure you don’t overfill the washer and that the load is balanced. Also, cycles with lower spin speeds remove less water than cycles with high spin speeds. Use the recommended cycle or spin speed for your garment. Check the drain hose for proper installation. Use a drain hose form and securely attach it to a drainpipe or tub. Do not tape over the drain opening. Lower the drain hose if the end is higher than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor. Too much detergent causes suds to slow or stop draining and spinning. Always measure and follow detergent directions for your load. Always use HE detergent. We hope this solves your problem!
