gas burners would not light with electric ignighters
using the diagram shown on line Looked up the ignition module and ordered it by phone. Received it the next day and installed it within the hour. Previously I had called the repairman and he said it would be a couple of weeks before he could look at it and a service call was $75 plus parts..I fixed it for the cost of the module $34. I am very satisfied.
part was by the brolier drawer inside under stove removed 2 screws on cover/ part was attached to cover removed module line 1-2 fit/ had to use supplied disconects crimped on 4 burner wire leads/taped around module w/ elec. tape put back 2 screws finished. works now.
1st unplug stove opened cover to wireing box with a phillips driver removed old part transfered wires one by one installed new part installed cover & pluged in stove & worked line new.
Removed screws from back right of oven. Found spark module under right side panel of oven. Module connected in a slightly different way, so I had to drill a new hole and use a machine screw to secure it. All wires matched up exactly on new spark module. Replaced side panel, plugged it in and... SPARKS. Cheap and easy replacement and didn't have to call Maytag for repair!
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the six wires. Then I repeated those steps in back order. That's it
I used the advise given in the website and it was very informative- the part was exactly where the folks on the website said it would be and although it wasnt the actual maytag part it was easily fitted by using the wire splices i mentioned and it was shipped quickly The whole process took less the 30 min once received. thank you for a very useful site.
Slightly turn burner head clockwise and it comes out. Pulled out spark electrode wire and hand installed it into new piece. Cleaned area and replaced burner head with a slight twist to lock in place. Bought two and have spare one left. Other three burners are ok but slightly rusted. We are ready for the next one to show a leak. May just replace the one that seems more worn out. Great solution. Saved a bundle on repairs and delayed having to buy new stove. This one has worked perfectly for over ten years.
Old Burner Head Caps No Longer Work And Need To Be Replaced
The burner head caps on my Magic Chef no longer work and had to be replaced. I ordered 1 of the 4 caps to see how it would work out for me. I did not have any issues replace the cap. I contacted PartSelect and order the other 3 caps. The sales representative took my order and was EXTREMELY helpful. Now I know why all of my neighbors choose PartSelect. Including the cleaning, it did not take me more than 15 minutes. The video was also extremely helpful. Our Magic Chef should be good for another 6-8 years. Thanks PartSelect.
