WRT771REYM00 Whirlpool Refrigerator - Instructions

watched video, followed the instructions and everything fell into place. since the wiring harness was not removable, I disconnected the harness from the the old unit and hooked it up to the new unit. put every thing back together,plugged in the power cord and turned on the water. water filled the ice maker and ice appeared in about an hour.

ice cubes are now being made properly and there is no more leaking.

Previous to installing the new ice maker - I replaced the dual inlet water valve per the instruction video I found @ partselect website. That did not solve the problem <> I also adjusted the timer on the old ice maker down - per another video / which also did not solve the problem. Then I viewed the video on icemaker replacement - ordered the ice maker & 3 days and 15 minutes later <> the problem was fixed ! This web site is "fantastic" ! Thankyou partselect for your assistance ! ! !

After plugging in the new relay to no avail. I replaced the thermostat. That fixed the problem.

Removed three screws. Discount wire harness. Reverse proceedure for installation.

Watch the u-tube video first ,Then read instructions that came with new unit ! so darn easy. unplug fridge, remove ice bin, clean and dry bin before putting back in service! stick flashlight in freezer loosen 2 top screws remove 1 bottom screw, unmount unit, unplug wire harness, remove icemaker and put on table, close freezer door !! , Remove sensor arm from old unit in down position and install in new unit. plug in new unit and reattach in freezer. replace ice bin and plug in fridge, that's it!, It took about 2 hours for the icemaker thermostat to say OK lets go had a load of ice in aprox 3 hours from finish. piece of cake. taped the door shut ,measured a block of wood and stuck it under the door for support.....unbolted bottom hinge,slipped on hinge bracket and reassembled.no muss no fuss.

The replacement ice maker came with a few different wiring harnesses which I assumed one of them would fit. well none of them did. I took the wiring off of the old one and matched up all of the receptacles and hoped for the best. It worked. The hardest part of the repair was dislodging the ice machine from the massive chunk of ice that had developed due to the leak in the old one. after that it was pretty easy. I hemmed and hawed about the wiring harness for a few minutes but felt confident it was going to be okay. I took the heat shield off of the old one and put it on the new one and used the control cover and the control arm from the old one too. I checked that all the holes and mounting assemblies matched up. I plugged in the wiring harness to the ice maker and than to the refridgerator, used a nut driver to secure it to the inside wall of the freezer with 3 screws, replaced the ice bucket and the cold air diverter and closed the door. Within an hour I heard the first ice hit the bottom of the bucket.

followed the video as instructed. Saved two repairman calls, one to find the problem, one to install. Net savings was about $130.00

The unit was old so I opted to buy a new one even though it was just the motor. It took about 10 minutes to remove it after locating the fasteners, possibly less and about the same to install the new one. When the unit is turned on for the first time it does not start up right away. It will not start until it senses that it is cold enough in the freezer. For me that was about an hour to an hour and a half. There was a note on the cover that this could be as long as thirty six (36) hours. So don't be alarmed when it does not start running right away. The instructions were accurate.

1)pry out the old/defective light rocker switch with a screw driver (flat head) and pull out the cables 2)unplug two connectors at the end of light rocker switch 3) connect new light rocker into two connectors 4)push the wires inside and put back new light rocker switch

I did exactly as the video showed. I popped out the old switch, disconnected the two terminals, connected the new switch and put it back. The light now works! The refrigerator is over 25 years old and the switch works! What a great website this is. Couldn't of done the job without Partselect's help.

The icemaker is in a side by side refrigerator/freezer with an auger driven ice bin dispenser, so space was limited. I first removed the ice bin but I couldn't see the three nuts holding the icemaker in place. I removed the ice bin support bracket (under the icemaker) using a Phillips head screw driver. Now the bottom nut holding the icemaker in place was easily visible and I was able to determine the size of nut driver I needed to completely remove it. Then I felt for the location of the top two nuts, slipped the nut driver on and loosened them. I was able to lift the icemaker off the top two nuts without completely removing them. Using a flat head screw driver, I pushed down the white tab holding the wiring harness connection to the icemaker and removed the harness, freeing the ice maker for complete removal. I did not need to replace the wiring harness, so I simply reversed the whole process to install the new icemaker. I am a 61 year old female with rheumatoid & degenerative arthritis and found this installation really easy, with the one exception of snapping the wiring harness connection into the new icemaker - I didn't have the thumb strength. I had to wait for a relative to come and snap the wiring harness connector into place for me. I also had to use some snips to cut out the plastic tab (scored) for the water feed to the icemaker but was able to complete the entire installation within 30 minutes.

Unplug the unit cord, remove 3 screws on the icemaker. Unhook the wiring harness from the refrigerator, remove the unit and reverse the order to install the new unit. Reinstall the on off bail, and the icemaker tray. Make sure that the unit is level after the new installation so that water does not spill out of the icemaker.
