Ice maker was not making ice
I replaced the solenoid first because the ice maker was not getting water. After replacing the solenoid valve, I waited about 1/2 an hour, still no water. So, I ordered a replacement ice maker. I then installed the replacement ice maker, waited a 1/2 an hour, still no water. Then, I waited overnight. Yeah, ice! WORD OF ADVICE. WAIT OVERNIGHT TO SEE IF THE ICE MAKER CREATES ICE. Not sure how long a cycle takes, but it's longer than you would think. Hope your installation is a success!
The site offers a video for this part which worked perfectly. In addition to replacing the part, since the cardboard panel was off, we also cleaned all the dust off of the coils which someone recommended to do annually.
Watched YouTube video. Very easy. Used my cell phone camera in ‘selfie’ mode propped up in the upper right hand corner of freezer to see the 2 hidden screws.
Snapping noise from bottom of refridgerator door bottom hinge.
First I looked up and called Fridgedaire. They were absolutely no help at all. No diagrams and no intelligent help. When I found your site there was an IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown) diagram that helped me find the parts that I suspected as being the problem. When I found them and added them to my cart I found several comments from people who had the same problem and the same remedy to the problem. I ordered the parts, I could have got away with just replacing the door closure bearing, but I figured that the prudent thing to do while ordering parts and disassembling the door was to replace both. I was extremley pleased with the parts service as within three days of ordering the parts they were at my home and the repair was completed. The repair was very easy. Removed the items from the door storage, removed the upper hinge pulled the door, removed the door stop, replaced the door closure bearing reinstalled the pieces and then reinstalled the door. Piece of cake. Spent more time getting the tools together and emptying the items stored on the door then replacing the parts.
I remembered to unplug first. took the little cover off on the bottom, unscrewed the 3 screws. then just held the base that the fan is on and pulled rite off, pushed the other one rite on. it took me five min, i want to say thanks to parts select, had the part, fast shipping, great job, thank you.
The drum ice maker broke in half so it couldn't dependent the ice.
I had removed the housing that the drum was in and taken the screws out to get to the broken drum. I removed it there was a set of 6 blades that crushed the ice that had to go back on the same order when I removed these I put them on a piece of wire in the order they came off (so I would get them back I the correct order). Then I reversed the order and reassembled it in the opposite direction . It was fairly easy to do. I'm a 68 year old disabled woman so if I could do it I'm sure you could to. Good luck. It cost me $14.00 if I had bought the whole assembly it would have been $150.00. So it was well worth my time and effort.
This is the second time I've had to replace the crisper cover, so I had that step mastered. As before, I took the glass from broken crisper cover and dropped it into new cover in seconds. Had to use a screwdriver to pry old crisper supports from the walls of the fridge. This was the only hassle. Popped new supports in, replaced crisper covers, and slid crisper drawers back into place. From now on, I'll have to be more careful about how much weight I put into crispers.
I basically followed the instructions offered when i searched for the ice maker. It was relatively easy to do, I undid the 2 screws holding the ice maker to the side of the freezer, the was the tricky part, holding a mirror so i could see the slots of the screws. loosened them, disconnected the electrical connection and reversed the process for the install. It took about 25 minutes and i was back making ice.
The basket hanger is plastic and the rack tips of the basket hanger are even more delicate. Replaced basmet hanger no problem. They were expensive i.e. $70.
Unscrew 4 screws . Remove broken basket hangers. Install new basketo hangers. Screw in 4 retaining screws...
Remove power from refrigerator. Pull out the drip tray below paddle. Removed the 3 screws behind tray. Gently pull control panel out and remove the ribbon cable plug from panel. Set panel aside. Remove three screws holding panel housing to door, then pull out housing slightly and disconnect harness plug behind left side of housing. Pull housing out 3-4 inches. Look at the way paddle tabs engage ice dispenser switch mechanism. Remove the left paddle hinge screw and plate and loosen the right hinge screws(these also hold the water paddle hinge) Remove broken paddle by pulling out from right hinge plate and down. Install new paddle under right hinge plate, engage new paddle tabs correctly onto dispenser switch, install left hinge plate and screw, then tighten hinge screws. Reconnect harness plug, reinstall 3 housing to door screws, reconnect ribbon plug to control panel and reinstall panel screws. Reinstall drip tray. Reconnect power to refrigerator and check operation of ice and water paddles.
There was a horrendous popping noise when I opened the refrigerator door.
First I cleaned out the side door then, removed the three screws on top of the door. Lifted the door off and set it carefully on a kitchen mat.
I had to use the pliers to remove the existing bearing hinge as it had disintegrated in the door. Once it was out the new hinge slid right into place and I reinstalled the door. I had help with the door. It’s much easier with two people to get proper alignment and to hold it in place while you reattach the screws.
I would have to say the hardest part of this repair was cleaning out the refrigerator.
Removed screws holding unit and removed unit. Removed switch from connectors in unit. Replaced unit without switch. On day switch arrived (delivery was prompt) my wife replaced switch by attaching the two connectors and slipping into unit without having to remove entire unit. How easy was that!!!
