WCSR4170DCCC General Electric Washer - Instructions

took 4 screws off top of control panel, lifted it out, pulled off control knob, removed 2 electric wires ( unit was UNPLUGED )lifted up / pried up metal tab, turned counterclockwise 1/4 turn , removed plastic hose and walla ! reversed to installed. a piece of cake, less than a two beer job ! p.s, you tube has video's of this and helped alot. very very easy. now i'am taking down my kenmore elete he3t washer ( made in MEXICO of course ) for outer tub bearings. everything has to come out but i can do it ! woot woot !! and a special thanks to PartSelect for having the correct part.

Viewed the step by step how to and was able to complete repair all has worked well great info sight!

I followed the on-line video with just one exception and I had the old part off in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the part on Saturday afternoon and I had the part in hand by Wednesday morning at around 11:00 am. I spent less time installing the coupling kit than it took to take it apart and had 2 loads of clothes done before going to work on second shift. I would recommend anyone needing help contact Parts Select. They were great and very helpful.

The agitator is the tough thing to remove, I took a previous posters advice and used a rope and 2 boards to pull it up. I will describe it as many short ropes but it can be done without cutting the rope if you think a lot about it. loop the a rope under the agitator so its under 1/2, loop another rope under the other side. tie both loops so you can slide a board in each across the top of the washer. Then tie the 2 loops together on 2 sides down near the bottom of the agitator otherwise they will come out from under it when you pull. then slide the boards in the loops and lift up pulling up the agitator.That is the hard part. Remove the bolt on the coupling, and pull it off. The new one had to be lightly hammered on with a rubber mallet, then use the new bolt. the Agitator slide down and with a push down it popped on. Putting the new part on only took 15 min, removing the broken one took about 45 min. Washer is woking great now ! Saved over $100 or buying a new washer !

Took the knob and clip off the dryer and stuck the knew knob on!

I used the video instructions sent to my email and everything worked perfectly as instructed.

Pull the Agitator out by hand no tools where needed. Took Fabric Softer dispenser off put it on new Agitator. Pushed the new Agitator on. Repair done. Sure am happy I did it myself. Service charge from repair company would have been a lot more then $50.00.

The old knob broke off & was no longer able to turn the pin to start the dryer. I simply slid the new knob onto the pin & it worked like new.

Couldn't get the agitator off by pulling up, then thought about it and got 2 carpenter claw hammers, inserted one on each side and puled up evenly on both and off she came. Sprayed the slots with WD Forty and popped the new on. THANKS saved us a lot of money!!!

Removed agitator by pulling up, wiggle to and fro, watch out for unexpected release. Agitator coupler was worn, stripped splines. 7\16 socket, long extension to remove bolt in coupler. Install new coupler, new bolt, then line up agitator to splines on agitator coupler and push to snap in place.

Remove agitator remove retainer screw and using Prybar lift off the old coupler ..... After removal use heat gun and wire brush to remove plastic residue from the splines of the motor shaft ... While the shaft is still warm line up the splines from the new coupler and using the mallet force the coupler on the shaft ... Install the retainer screw that comes with the coupler and snap on the agitator ... Done

I pulled up on the fin part of the agitator exposing the gear coupling. I unbolted the nut on top with a 12 mm socket. Once the nut and washer were removed I pulled up on the gear coupling and slid it right off. Reversed procedures to install the new one.

Easy I followed the video. It took approx. 15 Min. Thanks to the video I feel like I can repair anything. This is not the first appliance I fixed. Thanks to parts select.
