Burned out Bake element
First and foremost turn off the circuit breaker to your electric oven. Remove old bake element by removing retaining screws located on back wall of the oven. Screws are hex head, so easiest tool to use is fitting socket wrench. Unfortunately these screws were rusted and I should have cleaned them up at this time since no replacement screws are included. Pulled unit forward and removed screws to electric wires. Put new element in position and replaced all screws in reverse order. Turned breakers on. Works perfectly.

Oven element failure
Our oven element arced, melted and caused a 1 hour heat cycle to reach 200 degrees. I looked online to replace the part, but my oven is from 1987. The part from Part Select matched (I triple checked) and hoped it would work. I used a chair to hold the open oven door, instead of removing the entire door. I fastened it with duct tape and padding. Working inside the oven is hard to reach, so I knew I would lean on the door. I set up a Craftsman work halogen work light to allow for best visibility. a few items to note:-be sure to turn of the breaker, have extra tools handy. My replacement element had screws that would not work, I had to use my Craftsmen set up sockets to replace the new element. This is a great time to clean out your oven. Overall the job only took about 40 minutes, set up and break down included. $25 and my time was sure better than buying a new oven.-Rob

Burnt out element
I turned off power at fuse box, removed retaining screws from the back, swapped wires from old units to new exactly, replaced the retaining screws, turned power back on and tested unit. Took less than 30 min to complete both elements. PartSelect = GREAT SERVICE, PARTS FIT, GREAT PRICE. What more could you ask. THANK YOU.

Burnt out broiler element in oven
Broiler element failed catastrophically (with light flashes) while in use (1986 GE self-clean oven/four burner stovetop). Part number embossed on element plate - very difficult to see - took digital photo while still in oven and magnified. Easy to search for part. Good price, prompt delivery. Removal of old and install new awkward because of access angle and my decreasing nimbleness, as well as oven control thermocouple and support bracket in way. But no technical difficulties. Hex head metal screws holding in element; Notched phillips metal screws holding bracing bracket (easier to put element in by removing one side of bracket). Screws difficult to remove as in much used oven 26 years, and thermocouple partially blocking socket ratchet wrench. Would have been easier with 1/4" short extension. Before detaching element, I used twist ties around the leads tied to a large plastic clip so as not to lose them into oven back. PartSelect part was made by GE, not secondary source. Perfect replacement for this old part - still available.

Element burned out.
Opened breaker to kill power to unit and removed element. Reverse procedure and back to baking. Had no idea that i would find the correct part still in existence. Oh what a relief.

broken bake element
turned off the breaker for the oven. removed screws holding old element in place, and carefully pulled the old element out of the back. took apart the wires that came out of the insulation with a screwdriver. replaced with the new one. the first time i did this, the insulation started smoking, i believe because i didn't have the wires screwed on tight enough the first time. but yeah, the hardest part is getting the rusty screws out. i had to do some prying action.

Ackward access at back of oven. Insufficient spacing of screw holes in cover plate.
Removed shelves. Attach screws were old and corroded. Used CRC 5-56 to lube screws. Unscrewed plate holding heater element. Detached electrical connectors and removed old element. Installing new element required routing out holes in attach plate to match holes in oven.

burnt out element in old wall oven
turned off electric to oven; removed burnt out element; replaced with new element; turned electric back on - DONE My oven broke 4 days before Thanksgiving, I called Partselect on Monday, 11/19. The part cost $15.42, overnight shipping would cost $24 something (more than the part) so I asked them to just send regular shipping, which takes 3 to 5 business days. I received the part on 11/20,we were surprised & sure that someone felt for us during the Holiday. We are very grateful & thankful for them!

Bake Element not heating
Raised old element, used nut driver to remove old screws. Pulled element out, used screw driver to remove screws holding wires to element. Cleaned the oven while I had the opportunity. Attached wires to new element, pushed it in and attached bracket to wall. Looks brand new now and the element glows again! The screws that come with the new element should be used to attach the wires to the element - don't use the old screws. I made the mistake of assuming the old screws and new screws were identical, and nearly ripped the connectors off the new element (of couse I was using an electric driver).
