RJ742*T7 Hotpoint Wall Oven - Instructions

Removed old bake element with nut driver and phillips screw driver and then installed new bake element in reverse order.

finally used painters tape to hold gasket in place while I tighten down the screws.

my husband did the repair-said it wasn't "too bad". I had ordered the part at 9:00 PM on Wednesday. It arrived Friday AM. Instead of calling in a repair person, we spent $18.23 and the oven works fine !!!!

Removed back panel. Removed the defective solenoid on its bracket. Replaced it with the new door latch solenoid. This was relatively easy. Replaced the back panel. Tested self cleaning feature. Everything worked fine. I have preformed this same repair once before.

I unscrewed the element mounting plate, Unscrewed the electrical connects. Used tyhe new screws furnished with the replacement element to attach he electrical connectors. Replaced the two screws that attach the element.

Removed the old bolts and removed the element with a socket wrench. Reinstalled fairly easily. The only problem was the manufacturer made the wires very short which made them hard to grab and connect to the element. Need a locking pliers or something similar to hold the wires during reconnection.

I removed the two screws holding the lower heating element from the back of the oven. Pulled it out so I could see the wire connections, and separated the wires from the element. Took the new heating element from Parts Select and reversed the procedure. Checked all the connections, and turned on the oven. The new heating element worked like a charm. We're back in business. Very easy job.

Saw a You Tube video on how to replace the Bake Element. Looked fairly easy. Ordered part on a Friday afternoon - it showed up on Saturday! Turned off power, cleaned out junk at bottom of oven, removed 2 screws with nut driver, unscrewed both wires, making sure they didn't retract back behind the insulation. Put new one in place, connected 2 wires, screwed unit back in, turned on power. I think I spent more time running up and down the stairs to turn off/on the power! Cleaned the oven for 2 hours, and now it is like brand new! I will probably do the lower oven next.

Turned off power. Removed plate in rear of oven and then unscrewed the 2 connectors and then put on new element in reverse order. PartSelect was very helpful in id of part and needed repairs. Very prompt delivery and excellent business accumen offered. Customer service rates a 10 of 10!!

After removing the element the wires were so far back and were difficult to reattach because they were so short. Instead of putting the screw through the wire into the the element i put a screw threw the bottom of the hole in the element with a nut to hold it in place and then installed the wire on the screw that came through with a nut to hold the wire. The next time i replace the element i will tie a string around each wire before i remove the screws so they will be easier to attach.

turned breaker off, checked to make sure no power to oven. Removed screws at bracket from old bake element. removed screws from wires attaching to bake element. Removed old bake element. Put wires onto new element, put screws in new bracket. Turned breaker back on, turned on oven, works great.

I looked up the part on-line and read previous repair comments on the ease of replacement. I turned off the electric power breaker - selecting the one labeled "50" as suggested by a previous purchaser. The oven light went off immediately. I then made sure I could remove the burned out element before I ordered the replacement. This was a little difficult, as the octagon shaped screw were rusted after 26 years and difficult to remove. I sprayed with WD-40 and followed the directions given by previous repairers. I was quite proud that when the part came a few days later, I was able to install without too much difficulty. Would have been easier if my arms had been longer. This oven located next to wall - set up a little on the high side for this 72 year old 5'2" woman. Good job!!

Emptied freezes, turned off power, took floor of freezer out [4 screws ], took two screws out of fan mounts and replaces fan. Reassembled by reverse process. Simple
