I could not find a dealer who could tell me what part I needed because the model was discontinued
I just went to your web page and indicated I needed an 8' surface element and up popped a picture; I ordered it and plugged it in and it works perfectly. I didn't need a model number, or a part number. Three cheers for a simple solution and a 1st class web page!
I simply followed the instructions on the PartSelect website. Since the range is 20 years old, I replaced all four terminal blocks. I used needle nose pliers to carefully nurse the old terminals off the burner controls, and used fine sandpaper to burnish the male contacts on the burner controls. Since the failed terminal block wire had overheated, I burnished the burner contacts that slip into the terminal blocks to eliminate any resistance that could cause overheating. So far, all burners are working great!
I simply pulled the old surface burner out, and plugged the new one in. It took less than one minute! The amazing part of this repair, is actually that PartSelect sent the replacement surface element burner OVERNIGHT! I could not believe it, and was VERY impressed with their commitment to help their customers in time of crisis. It arrived just on time for my Thanksgiving not to become a nightmare. Thank you PartSeclect!
Very easy. Followed the video instructions. Unplug stove. Cut old wires. Tape new wires to old wires to facilitate pulling new wires thru old hole to back of range. Removed back cover. Pulled old/new wires thru to back. Removed old connectors. Attached new connectors. Replaced back cover. Screwed new terminal block to front of range at burner. Attached new burner. Plugged in stove. Replaced stove in counter.
The original controls were different for the small burners and the large burners. The replacement part fits all. Before removing wires, pay attention to writing on new and old control and replace 1 at a time. The hardest part was being sure to cut the knob stem to the correct length. Control works well.
Range purchased in 1989. Broiler Element Support Broke.
Removed 2 sheet metal screws. Threw away old part. Replaced with new part secured with the same old sheet metal screws. Works perfectly. Actually it took longer to type this response. I was very pleased with Part Select. If I need another part you'll be hearing from me.
I read parts select instructions and i was done in less than 30 minutes. Since 1988, this is the 1st. part that I had to replace. I now have parts select on my favorites list.
slid the range away from wall. disconnect power. removed back, compared switches and marked wires.installed new switch and wires.the adapter for the control knob was a problem it left the knob out futher than original i had to modify the plastic adapter and got it close enought! the most time spent was cleaning up the floor before putting the range back.
