First neede heating element, then replaced idler puller, drum support wheels & belt,.
Dryer had not been used in over 2 years. After replacing the heater element...it started making very loud screeching noises. Decided to then order all other parts that said could solve noise problem. Felt if I was going to take it apart again, might as well replace everything new. Very helpful video instructions online...took less than 30 mins. the 2nd time. It now runs so smooth, you can't even tell the dryer is running. This website is wonderful!!!!!! The troubleshooting descriptions, parts list, availability of parts, fast delivery, everything is right here to fix anything. If you can't find it....it can't be fixed !!!!!

Squeal,drum noise
I used a putty knife to depress the top locks which then i could set the top back.Remove the two screws on the inside of front top to release the front base.Lifted front cover up and out of the chassis. Then i removed the front blower cover which has 4 screws holding it and gently pulled out. I then reached into the back and released the idler lever so i could remove the belt from the motor.I then pulled lightly on the drum and removed it also. At this point i remove the idler lever and reinstalled the components. I find the maytag machines are very easy to work on.Dryer works like new. Parts Select is a great place to get the needed parts, very fast turn around time on the parts and also great prices.
