MDE14PDADW Maytag Dryer - Instructions

In a nut shell ,unplugged dryer, removed front cover and door. Removed snap ring , lifted drum a little, removed old roller, installed new roller replaced snap ring . Replace door and front cover and plugged it back in.

Never repaired a dryer before. Looked at video clips on YouTube - invaluable. Highly recommend others do the same when figuring how to disassemble and reassemble.

I highly recommend inspection/repair of the felt drum seals when performing the belt replacement or any other repair. The felt is not glued into place. You need to gently lift each individual metal tang on the felt supports to remove the old felt. Gently prying the tang from the felt side with a screwdriver works well. (Don't bent the tang too far, just enough to remove the old felt. Once the old felt has been removed, install the new felt by placing the felt in position under the tang, and press the tang back into position. The rear felt should be started clockwise, and the front felt started counterclockwise. This is to insure the overlap of the beginning and end of the felts are correct (the drum rotates clockwise). The felts need to be flared out (flexed over the metal tangs) to allow the drum to be re-installed. You will have to kind of fight the drum back into position, as the new felts are not worn in. (Don't forget to put the drive belt around the drum before installing the drum and the front ring!) reassembly of the drum and front ring will be somewhat difficult. The felt will be pushing against the drum. Once the drum and front ring are re-installed in the cabinet, make sure the drum seals are properly set by pushing the felt outward along the drum's outside edge from inside the dryer. The side of the felt should rub against the drum. You should not see the top edge of the felt.

After watching the on-line video associated with the idler pulley wheel and bearing, we took the dryer apart, removed the idler pulley wheel and bearing (both - although only one was bad), replaced it by just slipping it on and replacing the locking washer (that part took some time because we didn't have the proper tool). The drum support roller didn't even seem to be bad, but we replaced that also - just slipped the old one off and slipped the new one on. The belt was a little more difficult - to make sure it was all in the correct space (we made sure we marked the front of the drum when taking it out so we put it back the same way). We did not even have to disconnect any of the electrical connections - just layed the front panel to the side. I probably spend an equal amount of time vacuuming the accumulated lint inside the machine as the actual part replacement took. The dryer works beautifully - I think I have already done about 8 loads of laundry since the repair and it isn't making a sound.

Watched the video and it was a breeze.

Video Was necessary. Rem 4 screws inside Door Rim, 2 holding Frnt Panel,2 holding Top Clips. Lay screws in a pattern for the re-installation. Lift top for no good reason. Left arm & hand- LEARN BELT THREADING. Move belt over back structure. Rmv Drum, Chge 2 back rollers & 4 Washers, back w/drum, RE-THREAD BELT CORRECTLY, Rotate Drum CW till belt tracks old worn path. Re-inst Top clips, Front Panel, have a beer, Re-instl Door. Rotate Drum freely, Start up. 2nd beer if Belt Thread OK. 1/2" of Rear of Right back roller was worn away due to Lion screaming.

Took it apart and drum rollers were almost completely gone!As a matter of fact rollers had separated from bearings.Very easy job,but took me longer than usual due to me not being properly prepared for job!I did not have a set of ring pliers,so I used needle nose and a screwdriver!Let me stress......make sure you have ring pliers and this job takes 30 minutes tops!!!!!!

I removed the dryer door to make the job easier on a tabletop. Removed the old seal which just popped out. I made sure to place the old seal down next to me exactly how I took it out in the event something went wrong, I could see which way it was facing. I pushed the ridged part of the new seal in the existing slot starting at the bottom....the trick was, I pulled and stretched the new seal ever so slightly as I pushed it into the slot and it went in beautifully! I am a 54 year old capable woman and was at first intimidated...but it was fine. I had to cut the seal a little at the end as it was a bit long.

When the dryer stopped working, I checked the two switches to see if they were good. The start button checked out OK but the switch on the door read bad. Ordered the part with the part number and put on when it arrived. Just a matter of disconnecting and reconnecting three wires. Very simple

Disassembled front of dryer, exposed drum and rollers, removed drum and replaced rollers. Reassembled dryer in reverse order of disassembly. Dryer functions quietly and properly as new.

we opened the front panel, removed the tumbler and replaced the rollers. put it back together and started up the dryer.Noise continued.again opened the front panel and discovered a warned-out blower wheel. Replaced wheel. Runs good now

We started by unplugging the unit thenremoving the door tand front panel.By removing the belt from the tensioner and lifting out the drum.the drum rollers were replaced first and rumble was still there when operated.Checking the blower wheel revealed a crack the width of the blower.After new blower was installed the dryer operated almost as quietly as new.

Took the entire dryer apart after watching a video online. Replaced the rollers & the belt & put dryer back together. Since I am a machine builder by trade I knew how to do some of this after watching the video, but not sure how easy this would be for someone untrained.
