The door latch handle was broken.
I disconnected the power from the dishwasher. I removed the screws from the inside door panel, unplugged two electrical connectors and lifted out the old door latch assembly. I plugged in the new door latch assembly and replaced the screws. I then turned the power back on. Maytag's price was $204. My cost was about $35.

1- dishwasher not cleaning good. 2- dishwasher continued to run after door being open
1- replaced accumulator filter and docking station with flappers, the docking station with flappers may not have been necessary? But what the heck, if your into it this far why not. Check out the tech. Video it was helpful. The dishwasher works like new now. 2- the door latch switch was worn out, to replace this part I first unplugged the power cord then removed the 8 screws from the inner panel of the door exposing the door latch assembly. Unplugged the two connectors and installed the new part and reassembled everything, pretty easy! The dishwasher works like new now, and for around $ 102.00 bucks, saved lots of money doing it myself, thank you Parts Select for your help. Carlos, Lancaster, California.

Broken Door Latch
I called a local repair person and he said the cost to fix this would be over $100, he said the part would cost $65. I went online found the part and ordered it. In two days I had the part in my hands! I then watched a video on how to install the handle. The video said it would take about 30 minutes to complete the installation and they were right, in fact it took less than a half hour. I saved myself over $100, didn't have to wait for installation, and got the satisfaction of fixing the dishwasher myself.

The door latch is plastic and it broke free of its mounting.
Very easy. Remove the screws on the back and lift the back up. The handle assembly lifts right out. The only difficult part is removing the electrical connection. I used needle nose pliers to pry them off. Be careful about over tightening the screws in the plastic door.

Door handle broke
Repair was easy. Removed inside liner screws (8 I believe). The only hard part was removing the switch terminal connecting wires. This was a relatively new dishwasher but the switches were literally falling apart. I removed the old latch/switch assembly and put the new one in place. I reattached the wiring connections and put the screws back in. The wife was shocked. She said you just saved us $700! I got the celeb treatment after that! Great part and really great site.
