MCE8000AYW Maytag Dryer - Instructions

Lift top of dryer. Remove two 1/4" screws that hold the front panel. Disconnect the two wires on the door switch. Lift front panel to remove. Lift drum enough to install the new belt. Reach in to place the belt on the motor and tension pulley. Replace the front panel. check for free rotation of the drum and belt. Close top. Done.

Well tried to find this simple part around Columbus and even maytag website no luck.Parts select had it to go and arrived earlier than expected.Fixed it less than 5 minutes works great.taken longer to put the light bulb back in,Really like the accuracy and quick response from parts select.If I had called a service tech probably would have cost $50.00 or more for a part that cost a little over $3.00 and saved this site in case I need to order other parts.Thank you

I followed instructions here on this site, and repaired the dryer with ease. More details in other posts but it pretty much went like this:
1) take out screws under lint thing, lift top
2) take out two INSIDE bolts in the top of the dryer (5/16" socket), disconnect wires, lift then set aside front
3) clean everything out, set dryer on it's back.
4) wrap belt around the tub (rubber facing the tub), and then loop it through the tensioner (which will have fallen out of place, but you can see from the wear where it goes). Note it loops through the tensioner then over the motor wheel, and then back through the tensioner. Took me a little while to figure that out. (put tensioner in place before doing the looping through)
5) put it all back together.
Very satisfying to have it all work again!

First I had to find my way into unit . I took out screws that didn't have to come out, but eventually I found my way in. I took out the drum put the belt over it and through the tightener then over the motor pulley. I then put the sheet metal back on and the job was done.

First I removed screws in lint tray, then opened up top of dryer and removed screms on side- removed front of dryer, put on new belt through idler pulley onto motor, then reassembled dryer. Really easy job and this was my first time working on an appliance

I took the top of the drier off by remoing two screws in back of drier. I also removed the two screws in the lint trap. Tnen i pushed the top in a little and lifted up the lidand leaned it on a 4x4 so it would not pull out the electrical wires, I then took the front of the drier off by removing the 2 screws from the inside of the drier. I held the drum up so it would not fall After pulling the front off, i put it to the side and stood the front panel up so I could take the drum off and put the replacement belt around the drum. I thenputh the drum back in the same place and pulled the belt thru the Idle pully and wrapped it arond the motor pulley. While you are putting on the belt, either cut a small 4x4 or have someone hold the drum up. Then put the front panel and the top back on. This was made easy by reading another repair story. When the dryer drum stopped tumbling, I followed the instructions on PartsSelect to remove pop the top of the dryer and then remove the screws to remove the front panel. Then I could see the broken belt underneath the drum.

I did pull out the drum itself to get a better look at the motor and pulley to see where the new belt would need to go. I replaced the drum by pushing it back and then rotating it so it would fit back into the groove on the rear panel.

Once I received the new belt, I followed the steps included with the belt package to loop the new belt around the drum and then thread it over the pulley and around the motor.

The entire repair was very easy and so much cheaper than buying a new dryer.

The plastic frame was cracked, which caused a small tear in the lint filter screen. This allowed lint to escape from the filter, and get into other areas of the dryer. It was taking longer and longer to dry our clothes. When we found partselect on line, and ordered the replacement part, we were pleased with the ease of ordering on line, then impressed by the follow up emails confirming the order, then letting us know the part had shipped, how to track the shipment and within a couple of days it arrived!!! In less than a week, problem solved! Thanks!

First I removed the back panel (and found out later when I received the belt from Partselect.com, that this was unnecessary). I followed the instructions that came with the belt and removed the top panel and then the front panel. I placed a piece of wood under the drum for support so that it would not be just hanging from the back. Then I found the broken belt lying on the bottom, and a pulley that was unhinged. I replaced the pulley following the instructions, and vacuumed the motor and all around. I put the new belt around the drum and then through the pulley and onto the motor axle. I replaced all the panels and the dryer is now working like new.

Disassembled dryer to gain access. Cleaned out dryer and installed new belt. Reassembled dryer and checked function.

First, used putty knife to open top of dryer, then removed front panel (nut driver removed hex head screws. Removed housing cover with support arm, again with nut driver. Cleaned lint from area removed two clamps holding broken part in place removed broken part, installed new blower wheel, which required a rubber mallet and the old part to coax into place. Replaced clamps, replaced housing, replaced front panel and closed top - the dryer is now running more quietly than when it was new

Lifted top cover (hinged) , removed 2 screws to remove front panel, sliped new belt over drum, lifting drum slightly from front bearings.Using a small mirror taped to a stick and a good tube florescent drop light, was able to place new belt on drive pulley and under tensioner pulley. Rotated drum manually to make sure proper placement of belt.

Remove the lint filter.
Access the belt by removing the top of the dryer cabinet. It is held on by clips that allow it to be pried off, no screws to deal with. I used a thin wooden wedge to avoid chipping the enamel.
Remove the wires from the door mounted switch, remove the screws that attach the front of the cabinet, and remove the front.
The dryer drum is unsupported after removing the front of the cabinet. This allows the new belt to be slipped over the drum.
With a broken belt it isn’t obvious how to route the belt through the tensioner, but 30 seconds of trial and error should yield the solution.
Reattach the wires to the door switch.
During reassembly notice the felt support bearing around the door opening and be sure to keep it smooth and flat as you join the front panel to the drum.

1. Opened top and removed wire clamps from side and front for door switch.
2. Removed two screws and pulled front cover off.
3. Removed drive belt from tensioner pulley and moved to back of dryer.
4. Pulled drum off rear guide wheels and lifted drum out of dryer.
5. Unplugged motor electrical connector and removed idler wheel spring and idler assembly.
6. Removed screws holding blower wheel cover to case.
7. Removed snap ring and spring clamp from blower wheel and pulled blower wheel off motor shaft.
8. Popped rear motor clamp off with screwdriver.
9. Unscrewed screw holding rear motor support to dryer bottom and removed rear motor support.
10. Twisted motor assembly 1/8 turn to right and pulled motor rearward out of blower housing.
11. Removed blower rear snap ring from old motor and moved to new motor shaft.
12. Reversed procedures 1-10 to install motor, connector, idler, blower wheel, blower wheel cover, drum, belt, front cover and top cover.
