Door became instantly very heavy.
Having replaced one side before, I knew what to do. The whole unit has to come forward a few inches. Kill the power, but do not disconnect any lines or hoses. Both my ceramic floor tile, and counter edge are in the way. The edge I can pry off; then I can lift the front legs up onto the tile and slide out a bit to find and replace the broken line. Probably one side is still intact and can serve as a pattern for the other. The spring has to hook to the rear frame, and be pulled quite hard to reattach. I bent a clothes hanger to shape and pulled while my friend hooked the new piece to the door. Pushed back, replaced bottom plate, and reinstalled counter trim. Good as new!

Door Balance Link Kit
Disconnect the water and power supply to the unit. Remove the kick plate with a screwdriver and pull the unit from under the counter far enough to expose both door lift springs. With the door closed and locked release the tenson on the spring and remove the cable latch from the spring. One of mine was broke so this only had to be done on one side. With a 5/16 nut driver remove the bolt that holds the guide pullys in place. This is where I learned the problem from the original instulation. There are three screw holes to adjust the amount of tension on the cable. Mine was set with the most tension which is what caused the cable to break. I installed the new cables in the reverse order from above with the least amount of tension. It still supports the door but with less strain on the spring and cables. Good Luck

dishwasher door droped when open because the door balance link broke on one side
because of your video on how to repair this problem, it gave me the insight as to what to expect, unfortunatly I had to disconect the dishwasher completely to gain access to the back of the unit because when the link broke the spring came loose and had to be re-attatched. after attaching the spring it was easy as the video showed. I would recomend your web site to anyone. ps: I also shoped sears for the same part and their's was higher and was going to take twice as long to get, so thanks for your help. cordially, Ron

The door balance pulley cord broke
opened the washer door and removed the two screws holding the washer in place under the kitchen counter, adjusted the washer height lower to slide the washer out from under the counter, being careful not to accidently detach any wiring or hoses. Unable to pull the washer out much, counter trim too tight, made job a bit more challenging. Spring's hook came off the hole at back of the washer, with limited access, it took some time to get the hook re-mounted. Once done, the rest was pretty straight forward. Used a looped cord to tension the spring, so I could work without tension on the pulley cord. If I had easier access to my dishwasher, the job would have been easy. One thing, while moving the washer in & out, the pump gasket came up inside the washer, be sure the pump gasket is seated before running the washer. Once I pressed the gasket back down, everything worked fine, no leaks.

Door balance link broke, door falls when opened
Pulled diswasher out, removed old part, hooked end of new cord to spring and other end to post (by hand, easy). Also replaced the cord guide/roller with a revised part that came in the kit (both sides, one screw) that eliminated the terrible noise the door previously made whenever it was opened (since new).
