Piece of Plastic Junk Broke On The Dishwasher Door
Hey, I just want to say thanks for having the parts. The repair was so simple my husband (he never fixes things) did it before I even walked into the room. Sure beats calling a repair guy and paying the $75-$100 minimum. He just unscrewed the dishwasher from the counter, looked at the other side to find out where to attach the part to the spring, and did it.
Again, thanks for having the parts.

Broken doorspring link
I really appreciate this feature of this website. The inappropriate part photo had me wondering if I had the wrong part, but the repair descriptions made it clear that it was what I was seeking.

I'll do *anything* to avoid unhooking cables and hoses under a counter. Turns a half hour job into a multi-day leak chase. So... do this job per all the other posts. But pull the unit out only as far as the cables and hoses allow. You can do this. Really. Lie prone in front of the unit and handle the (fallen and disconnected) spring with a hand you've threaded through from the center.

Door fell upon opening, no springs
I could see a broken cord connecting the door to one of the springs, ordered the replacement parts kit, and followed the instructions to replace both sides. The replacement was simple, but removing the dishwasher required some creative work to free the flanges holding the unit behind the cabinet face. The feed line compression fitting leaked, requiring me to cut and replace with a new fitting. However, the replacement parts worked perfectly for a great price.

Door falls open
A big thanks to others that shared their story. The tips were very helpful.
I pulled the dishwasher part way out and found that mine had coper plumbing to the water supply routed under by sink. I disconnected the water supply and then pulled the dishwasher the rest of the way out (the wiring had plenty of slack). Reconnected the spring to the frame of the dishwasher and attahed the link to the spring. Attached vicegrips to the spring and pulled the spring out far enough to route the other end of the link through the pulley and connect it.
If I have to do it again, it will take only ten minutes.

Door had no tension
The hardest part of the repair was removing and installing the dishwasher from under the countertop. Once it was out the cable link on the left side (looking from the front) was broken. You'll need visegrips to pull the spring to the cable end (which is really nylon rope). I replaced both sides because they were inexpensive and I noticed they were made different than the old ones. Piece of cake once the dishwasher was out.

Easy repair
It took more time to take the two screws holding the top of the dishwasher in and to roll it out than it took to fix the door cable link.

Easy job for anyone who can use a screw driver and a pair of pliers

Dishwasher door would fall open
Removed the two screws on top and slid the unit out until the spring area was exposed relaced the part and slid back in, it was so easy. The part needed came in a set so I now have a spare. Your rep was so helpful in identifying the needed part for me and the whole expense of parts and shipping was half of what a service call to identify the problem would have been, say nothing of what they would have charged for the part and installation. Thank you I am a lifelong customer now.

The door cable link broke - door would not open smoothly!
Received the part from PartSelect the day after I placed my order - great service! My dishwasher would not slide out more than 6-8 inches from the cabinet without having to remove the plumbing and electrical which I was trying to avoid. The solution was for me to request my wife to help me out by positioning the spring into the hole in the back panel of the dishwasher (the other end of the spring is the part into which the "eye" of this link goes). She has much smaller hands and she was able to do it in a minute :-) This was the hardest part - once the spring was in, it's just a matter of threading the link over the 2 spindles and insert the other end of the link into the "arm" on the dishwasher door. I found that it was easy to do this once I stretched the spring using a pair of pliers with one hand while threading the link with the other. All done in under 30 minutes.

BTW, I thought I read in another review/story that PartSelect shipped out 2 links in this package - I only found 1 complete set - link, spindles, etc. I only wanted the link, so I guess the other parts just live in my toolbox. I really think this link is going to keep breaking often (it's a really badly designed hinge!), so I wish PartSelect had a package consisting only of these links without the other components.

The cord broke on the link.
I put the spring back in place, attached the cord/link, then it took two of us to attach the other end of the link. It took a lot of pull to attach the second end of the link, however very simple to accopmlish.

Dishwasher door opened and closed abnormal force - lost counterbalance
Removed the two screws securing the lower access cover below dishwasher door and removed two upper mounting screws securing dishwasher to countertop. Grasped dishwasher near front feet and slid unit out of encloser approximately 12-14 inches. Removed broken balance link cable from attachment point on dishwaher door and from the balance spring. Removed existing balance link pulley/guide assembly from side of dishwasher frame and replaced with new assembly. Connected balance link cable to balance spring, then strung/wrapped new cable through and over pulley/guide and connected cable end to mounting connection on door frame. Completed same process for opposite side of dishwasher. Pushed/slid dishwaher back in to its original position, re-attached the two counter to dishwasher screws and finally reposition the lower front acess panel and secured it with the two screws previously removed.

Door flopped open
Took off the front kick plate and the two screws holding the top to the counter, and then carefully pulled the machine out 3/4 of the way. Removed broken part, installed new part, tested movementof door, then pushed it all back into place, reinstalled screws to counter and bottom kick plate, did a test again to be sure it all worked, Poured another cup of coffee and put peanut butter on the english muffin, left for work. Any questions?
