THe repair went well.

well the replacement of the directional cogs was easy, once i was able to separate the the top and bottom half of the actual agitator. What i could not find out about my whirlpool gold was their was 4 plastic tabs that held the whole cog assembly onto the agitator. i could not pull it apart like all the videos were showing, until i took it to a repair shop and he showed me. After i used a hammer with a screwdriver to break the plastic tabs, it popped right apart. The actual repair only took about 30 min. once i was able to get the agitator apart.

My washer is pretty old but still in overall good condition. I just happen to open the top to add softener and noticed the agitator wasn't turning. Found the problem and ordered the repair kit. I had taken the agitator apart (One bolt under two snap off caps.) so when the kit arrived, quickly I might add, I only had to assemble the replacement kit, bolt the agitator back down and re-install both caps. 15 minutes from start of repair to putting in a load of wash.

The repair was fairly simple - the hardest part was taking the shell of the washer off and putting it back on.

Tipped the washer on its side and took the pump off then the motor then the coupling.

used diagram of agitator taken from the computer to install the part. Diagram showed every part of the agitator and the order each, part went.

once I figured out how to take off the top soap dispenser it was really easy to take apart the rest of the inside cover and remove the agitator bolt, then lift off the top agitator piece and spacer. with instructions I received with the parts I ordered it was very easy to reassemble.

Pulled off the fabric softner holder, pulled out the cover for the agitator. Used a socket set to loosen the screw that holds in the agitator hub, pulled out the hub, removed the gasket from the cogs and replaced new cogs. Works like new!!!!

I purchased the part from PartSelect because it was very reasonable and it was OEM part. I have never replaced this kind of part on a washer so I figured it would take me a while. But PartSelect supplied a video showing the entire repair and that was the only reason I did not struggle with the repair. I will definitely buy any appliance parts I need in the future from PartSelect. Thanks Don

I could add absolutely nothing to the instructions given on your site. They were short, simple and easy to follow. I was so proud of just how well everything did go. Disconnected power. Disconnected hot and cold, and drain hoses and placed in a plastic bucket. Pulled cover off the washer. Tilted washer onto its back. Removed 2 clips holding the pump. Disconnected wire harness from motor and removed 2 clips holding motor starting with lower clip. Removed a screw from the upper clip used for shipping. Set motor aside and removed broken pieces of the motor coupler from motor and transmission. The replacement part had a metal sleeve in the center of each white plastic ring. The old part did not. This required tapping the new ring onto both the motor and transmission shafts with a socket and makes for a tight fit. Reversed the process to put everything back together. Some alignment might be necessary to place motor to transmission. I recomment wearing thin work gloves to avoid nicks from sharp edges. I didn't. Washer is spinning again and sounds a lot better.

After removing the body housing for the washer to find the problem, I left the housing off until my drain hose arrived (in 2 business days). Remember to keep your spring hose rings from the old drain hose. Within 10 minutes, I had the new drain hose attached and clipped in to the rear of the machine. Within 30 minutes, my wife was washing a load of clothes. **Reminder: This is a good time to thoroughly clean the areas of your washer that you normally do not get to. Also remember that your first load of clothes washed after the repairs and cleaning should be dark (i.e. jeans or work clothes) should their be any residual dirt in your drum after cleaning.

Pretty much followed repair video. The parts were wrong except the four dogs and rubber seal that went around the softener cap. After unplugginh the machine before starting work and removing the agitator per video, I had to put agitator on the ground, stand on both sides of the base and pulled it apart. The new cam was way too tall so I removed the bearing gently with a screwdriver removed the old cam dogs, put new ones in and seated the bearing to hold the dogs in. I than put agitator grease on. It would be nice if the 5 milligrams of grease that cost about 10 cents but can only find in a tube for 5 dollars was included with the kit. I now have enough grease to do a thousand agitators. Anyway, I reassembled per video replacing the cap seal and tested the unit. It is important to plug machine back in, because it was unplugged BEFORE working on it. It works like new. It is a very simple repair and cost about $20 instead of the $75 just to get someone to look at it plus cost of parts and labor.
