JFD2589KES Jenn-Air Refrigerator - Instructions

Removed Crisper Drawers and Glass Panel & Rail above Deli Drawer. Removed two screws and carefully removed the 3 pieces that comprise the temperature control knob and arms from their channels. Replaced Right Endcap and reassembled. Hardest part was not breaking the thin control arms as I slid them back into place. Just a shade under 20 minutes to swap out. PartSelect.com delivered the part very fast! I have them bookmarked.

I took the three screws out on the side panel after removing the drawers. The end cap pulls to the side and forward. I swaped the lever from the old cap to the new and re-installed the piece. It couldn't be easier. 5 min.

Replacement was simple.

It was - as they say - "a piece of cake". Angela my wife simply removed the old bucket from the door and slid in the new bucket. That simple.

I removed the drawers, removed the glass shelf, unscrewed the broken end cap (2 screws), took off the bracket and them reversed it to put the new one back on. Worked like a charm.

It was relatively easy to replace the ice maker...
I removed the two screws from the rail and the one screw underneath after unplugging the unit. The I removed the plug and transferred it to the new ice maker (if you've ever changed computer parts you'll find this very familiar). I then switched the arm assembly from the old ice maker to the new one and put it in the place where the old one was. A few twists of a nut driver and it was in. Unfortunately it still isn't working as it would appear it isnt my only problem... the ice maker is trying to pull water but it appears its having no luck.

The unit is 14 months old. Our last unit was 10 years old and what a difference in quality (thickness of plastic parts) with the new unit. This part should not have broke with respect to age and two older (50-55 year old) users. This site was great, withour it I would not have attempted the repair. To see illustrations to help with each step save me I would bet at least a hundred dollars if not more. Simple tool and this site made this a very easy repair. I listed 30-60 minutes, that time also included removing each piece and cleaning before reinstalling. Everything seems to be made so flimsy (sp) this is maytag's ice2o. We paid over $2300. 00 For the unit. Iy works great and keeps food so much better than our previous ge profile fridge. But the ge was built so much more heavy duty than this ice2o. Really sad that it had to be repaired so early in it's life. The ge was repaired the first time after ten years of use, and only a door part, a cam that helps to close it with just a touch. Thanks to everyone who supports and adds to this site, it gave me just enough of an edge (the economy also helped!!!!) to get me to not only try it but also do it! My ice maker had been a problem for some time. I remove the contents freezer side plus all draws freezer and door. Removed ice maker which required patients because it was first time and some what difficult (little space). I then Goggle ice makers and found your site. Put in my Refrigertator model number and up pop my ice maker. It took a week for the ice maker to arrive. Installation went easy and was done mostly with a nut driver. I used the electrical connector from the old ice maker and the wire shut off. During the off time I use masking tape to cover the electrical outlet for ice maker inside the freezer. Unit works fine.

I removed the produce drawers and glass shelf below them. Then I removed the deli drawer and took the runner off the endcap. Then I removed the endcap and replaced it with the new one and put everything back together. I did this simple job while my husband relaxed in front of the television.

Removed both crispers, the large glass shelf, the two glass shelf holders and the large Chef's Pantry drawer. Removed the two screws, with a 1/4 inch nutdriver, that held the drawer slide. Removed the two screws (1/4 inch) that held the endcap. Replaced the broken endcap with the new one and reversed the order to re-assemble. Really easy repair that needed only one tool - a 1/4 inch nutdriver.

First removed all the veggie and fruit drawers. The the glass shelf and cross bar. Removed broken section and the installed new. Very easy

i am a retired gas company appliance and heating
repairman,but i think most home owners that are a
little bit handy could do it. The only problem was that my
wife said that while I had it all apart I might as well
clean the whole refrigerator!

Actually my 17 year old daughter repaired the refrigerator. She removed all of the drawers, unscrewed the 2 screws that held the endcap in place, put the new endcap in place with screws and replaced the drawers. Very easy.

1. Removed the drawer that slides into the broken part.
2. Removed the two drawers above broken part.
3. Removed the glass, and lifted out the two bars that hold the glass.
4. Removed the two screws that hold Endcap in.
5. Lift slightly on the front of ENDCAP and pull toward front of refriderator.

Reverse the above order for replacement.

Bottom Line is that this was an easy job. Anyone can do.

Took off the old one and snapped in the new one! Took less than a minute.
