JB400G*H2 General Electric Range - Instructions

Repair was very easy. The instructions on Partselect.com with the item ordered described exactly what to do. I followed the instructions and it works great. Used socket wrench to remove the two screws holding the bake element bracket to the oven wall. Pulled the element out. Used a screwdriver to remove the wires from the old bake element. Use a screwdriver to put the new wires on the new bake element. Pushed the bake element back into place. Used a socket wrench to tighten the oven bracket to the oven wall. Done. Turned on the oven. Worked Great!!!.

Removed old element, checked continuity and element was bad, Fit new element and everything was good. No problem except my arms were not long enough!! Repairs took about 15 minutes.

Was looking at $1000 to replace range. Found the part for $30 with shipping. Just need to pull range out and have access to front and rear. AND UNPLUG FROM OUTLET (I also cut power at the box. That's just me) From rear, remove 2 screws holding on vertical cover and remove cover. Remove screws holding wires to element leads. From the front, open door 1/4 way then lift off of hinges. This makes reaching into the oven box easier. Remove two screws holding element to the back wall and remove. Insert new element. Go to back and use new screws that came with element to connect wires Make sure insulation is in place and replace cover. From the front re-connect element to back wall and make sure both feet are level on oven floor before tightening. Put oven door back on, plug in and test. Once tested push range back into place. Whole thing took 20 minutes.

the screw driver I used had several different nut driver sizes so that was the only tool I used. I took the 2 screws that held the element inplace and then there were 2 more that held the wires on to element.

1. The infinite switch had several knobs which would fit the switch shaft. Read the directions included with the switch in order to have the shaft fit the proper knob. You can break the shaft with two pairs of pliers. 2. Move the stove away from the wall and unplug it. 3. Remove the 1/4 screws from the back side of the stove and remove the back panel, exposing the switch. 4. Remove the wires one at a time and put them on the new switch. The terminals are L1, L2, P, H1 & H2. The Pilot (p) has a smaller terminal so you don't get it mixed up. Generally L1 is black, L1 is red, P is yellow, H1 and H2 can be blue, brown, yellow, orange or one of these colors striped on a white wire. 5. Remove the old switch from the stove and be sure to save the two mounting screws. 6. Position the new switch so that the side of the switch marked "top" is on top. 7. Install the screws on the new switch and put the knob on it. 8. Carefully test the burner. 9. Unplug the stove and put the back cover on.

TURN OFF POWER , remove oven door & oven wire racks, remove two retaining screws in back of coil and pull the burnt coil foward enough to remove the screws that hold the wires to the coil. You may have to drop one side of the front support bracket to move coil forward.Fasten the new coil to the broiler wires with the new screws provided. Push the new coil back into place being careful not to pinch the wires in the opening. Refasten coil to the oven back with existing screws that you removed. Refasten front support.Put racks back in and put door back on.Easy fix! Easy to order, easy to install and came within days from order date. Very pleased with whole thing.

Removed the two screws that held the bake element retainer in place and then pulled the bake element into oven to remove two screws holding the wiring attached to the end of the old bake element. Pulled bake element retainer over new bake element. Attached wiring to new bake element with screws supplied. Pushed end of new bake element into place and attached bake element retainer to oven with the two original screws. Done in about 5 minutes.

We unplugged the range. My husband removed the burned element and installed the new element. There was no problem either way. The worst part was getting up and down from the floor. He is 87 years old and doesn't bend like he did 20 years ago. Now if someone would clean the oven for me, it would be great.

Our son unplugged the stove, took a socket fitting the nuts and pulled the old bake element out. He then put the new one in plugging up the wires and screwing the nuts back in. Plugged in stove and works perfect!

Reatached to the oven white and black wire connection to the element with the screws provided in 10 minutes.

This oven is really weird and is approximately 50 years old. We would have had to do a significant renovation to get another stove/oven into the space. I had to use a drill to remove the old element and had to drill new holes to screw in the new element. I measured the old element and was lucky to find one that was compatible. Thanks!

Unpacked new part , shut off electric breaker to range. Removed both screws that held element to oven wall. Pulled out old element so I could loosen to screws that held wires to element. Loosened these, got new element attached wires to new element pushed back in to oven wall and put both screws back in to hold new element against oven wall. Put cooking racks back in , closed oven door. Turned power back on then tested oven and new element worked great. This was a very easy fix for me and would be for a lot of people mr. Green
