GU980SCGQ3 Whirlpool Dishwasher - Instructions

Manifold had several holes in it - it was an older 2-piece version made of soft plastic. New replacement part seems to be much more durable. Also noticed water level in the bottom of the tub was very low; when I added water during the wash cycle it ran much better. Replaced the water inlet valve, the tub then filled properly with water, water sprayed properly to the top of the dishwasher and the dishes were clean.

I used a socket to hold the motor front pulley and then I tried with a Vice Grip to hold the square part of the fan to breake it loos, but the vice grip only sliped and rounded the square part, so I had turn the fan by hand to get it loos. After that it went good. I also changed the dum ring and bearing kit. Now it runs like new again.

Installed new pump outlet, seal and nut. Quick and easy. Only item missing was the seal for the neck of the pump outlet.Shipment was fast!

After emptying the dishwasher the bottom had no water in it. A few hours later there was water in bottom. This told me the inlet valve was leaking. I took the bottom kick plate panels off. Directly in front on left side was the water inlet valve. Remove mounting screw, disconnect electrical connection, the water feed and discharge hose and remove valve. Install new valve. 100% DONE! Reinstall front panels after checking for leaks. At 71 years of age my typical 20 minute job actually took less time.

took off spray arm nut, wash arm bearing ring, lower spray arm, filter pump, feed tube seal. Installed feed tube seal then reassembled filter pump, lower spray arm and installed new wash arm bearing ring, replaced spray arm nut. VERY easy. Cleans great now, saved the price of a new dishwasher.

We watched your video how to install and followed instruction. It was so easy to follow. It took us only 5 minutes take out the old one and another 5 minutes to install the new one..

I watched the video, which was very good, and did the repair. It took about 10 minutes. Most of that was watching the video. EXCELLENT VIDEO!

Just followed the online instructions. I used white vinegar to clean any residue first. So easy.

Removed inner door panel, (torx screw driver required)removed printed circ. Board and wax motor(actuator) cover (no tool required)unplug and remove actuator,(3/16 nut driver)reverse procedure and test.

I followed the video directions on PartSelect which were GREAT! Only challenge I had was removing both impellers. The impellers both had cracked where they slid onto the motor shaft, and as a result would no longer rotate. Just holding the upper impeller still with the adjustable wrench while trying to remove the inner screw didn't work, as the shaft was now spun around inside the impeller. Had to break both impellers using a hammer and chisel to get them off the shaft. Once done, I could grip the shaft with pliers and remove the impeller mounting screw from the motor shaft. Then I sponged up any water, and vacuumed out the small bits of metal and plastic from the drain area. After removing all the parts and cleaning up, everything else went back together just fine! The repair really wasn't that difficult but I want to share my own experiences to figure out the repair. I'm a novice at DIY repair and I had to study the situation carefully for quite a while before I learned how to do the clip replacement. My first challenge was that the order sheet that came with the bags containing the clips said it was for the "lower rack." The clips I was replacing were on the upper rack so I was a bit put off at first. Also the broken clips were missing parts of the clip so I was initially challenged to determine if I had ordered the correct clip since I couldn't match the new clip with a broken one. My biggest challenge was that I couldn't figure out how the clip was attached to the two different tines on the upper rack. At first it seemed impossible for the clip to be installed getting the tines into the proper parts of the clip. The trick was that the plastic clip could be bent a little bit so I was able to force it into one of the tines and then bend it slightly so it would grip the other tine. Once I figured that out with the first clip, replacing the second clip was a snap.

removed the 2 water deflector and slipped the new ones in , in place.. very easy to do but it didn't seem to stop the leak so ordered the door gasket

I removed the lower and upper basket. Removed lower spray arm unit by removing threaded plug and replaced the wash arm bearing ring. Reinstalled spray arm and plug. Removed Phillips head screw on upper spray arm and replaced wash arm bearing ring and spray arm seal. Reinstalled spray arm and screw. Reinstalled upper and lower baskets. Made test run. Everything smooth and quiet. This is took longer to write than it did to perform the repair. Also made exceptional easy after watching the repair video on partselect.com. Purchase is always easy and delivery was fast. Ordered on Friday and delivered to my door on Saturday.

removed the nut, lifted the washer arm assembly installed new seal in upper and lower ports and screwed nut back in place with new seals. Washer works fine.
