I have checked the defrost thermostat:During the defrosting cycle the thermostat is still open

Empty out all the ice. Check how all moving parts operate together and get a clear picture when you replace parts so you know how it is to look upon completion. Unscrew the four screws that hold the front housing together and make sure you remember where you placed them. Three are the same and one is stainless steel at the ice container deflector. Replace the parts and attempt to put it together the first time. The ice auger had to be disconnected with a "C" washer to lock it in place along with a thin washer bearing. Take it apart two or three times to make sure the auger works before going to the next step. After the third or fourth evolution, it was like field stripping your M-1 rifle in boot camp it went so smoothly. It was really simple to do this job, just a little tedious. Now my wife can have crushed ice again and in a few months, some of the same plastic parts may break again because of the "snow" build-up. I know where I can find the parts, or maybe just buy another refrigerator. Thank you for seeing how the repair went. Jim

Old one out and tested at my shop seemed good on both sides. Wanted to make sure so purchased brand new valve.Still no ice. Next step will be new ice making unit.

I watched the video that was provided by PartSelect. The process could not have been more straight-forward. After unplugging the fridge from the wall outlet, i unscrewed the 9 or so screws that attached the plate covering the circuit board, I carefully unplugged each of the wiring plugs that were attached to the circuit board, except for the plug providing power to the board. That one I was unable to unplug while the board was still attached to fridge. I then used a pair of needle-nosed pliers to release the 4 plastic clips that held the circuit board in place and removed the unit from its housing. I was then able to unplug the one remaining wiring plug. The new board had a slightly different design, so attaching the power to the board was easily done after mounting the new board onto the plastic clips. The entire process took me less than 5 minutes. I plugged the fridge back into the wall outlet and my refrigerator came back to life! Thank you PartSelect for helping to make the task so simple and straight-forward!

The repair was fairly easy. The only part that was any problem was the snap connections for the auger to lift out of the assemblyl

followed the instructions included with part. Basically removed metal cover, disconnected cables from board, released plastic clips that held board in place, followed instructions included to reconnect. My particular model did not have any wire loom modifications (it tells you if you need to based upon your model number prefix)

I started by Googling what causes a refrigerator to stop working. Step by step, I learned about a refrigerator components. Compressor, relay, capacitor, were good. Took the mother board out and noticed that portion of the back of it had blackened. I immediately remembered that we had two short power outages that day. Ordered the board through PartSelect- regular shipping. To my surprise I received the part in less than two days. Installed the mother board and cleaned up the area in 15 minutes. It's been 2 week since installation, and everything is good. FYI, now the refrigerator is on a 2150 Joules surge protector.

Removed the old filter. Filled the new one with water and put it in theplace of an old one. Flushed the system with 1 gallon of water.

I watched the video and followed his instructions.

After replacing the Defrost Thermostat, Defrost Heater Assembly, and the Main Board, I concluded that the problem must be the Defrost Thermistor, which I replaced in less than 10 minutes and it fixed the problem! I cut the wires on the old thermistor and connected the new one after stripping the wires and taped the new connections with electrical wire. Fast and easy repair (the last part anyway ;).

Read a few of the comments then watched the video. The video is priceless. Doing this lets you know the tools you'll need and any problems you could run into and gives you all the confidence you need to get the job done.

I was intimidated by this repair(as I am with most repairs), because there were 2 possible problems. But being able to purchase both parts for $30 (including shipping) made it worth a try. Thanks to the instructional videos that were sent, the repair was much easier than I anticipated. For me, the hardest part was fitting my shoulders in the narrow freezer. Now the appliance works like a charm. This would have been a $150-$200 repair had I called a company to do it.

I tried to follow the video...it looked easy enough to do and would have been if the trim came off! I had to go to the reviewer who said to undo the 3 springs under the keypad (found on the white part behind the touchpad). I just took an eyeglass screwdriver and pushed up...it was easy to follow the solenoid installation video from there! If I can do it...anyone can! I'm a 65year old female.

followed you online video and it was easy and simple repair only took about an hour frig is back quiet and working fine thanks also parts come fast

Removed old ice maker, then screwed in new ice maker. Only thing that was a little difficult was to hold the auger motor, while trying to unplug the clipped in plug on the old ice maker. I could have used an extra pair of hands.
