Broken shelf support studs and crisper drawer cover.
No problem, I Just pushed the plastic pin to the old support studs into the frig wall using a small screw driver and hammer and with pliers pulled the studs out to the wall of the frig being careful not to damage the wall. Then with pliers {needle nose} pulled the plastic pin out of the wall. Pushed the new support studs in the hole and tapped the plastic pin with a small hammer into the support stud. Replaced crisper drawer cover and glass shelf. Easy fix
Followed instructions from others on the blog. Shut off water and electricity to the refrigerator. Removed the cardboard plate. Removed the old water valve. Cut the compression valves off and inserted the tubes into the new water valve. Attached the water valve bracket to the fridge. Tightened copper water supply.Turned on the water - no leaks. Plugged the fridge in. Tried the water and ice in the door. No leaks - everything worked perfectly. THANK YOU PARTS SELECT!
Parts Supply had a YouTube video to show it was done. This is one of the best sites to get parts there is. Easy to use, tells you how to install them easily. Thanks Parts Supply, I'll be back whenever I need a appliance part.
Of course, this was an easy install - carefully line up the slots on the door with the slots on the bin and slide the bin down completely to lock in place. However it is the same bin as on our old fridge, so I was expecting the door bins on our year old fridge to break as quickly as the old one - it did! So on these replacements, I reinforced the bin with duct tape all the way around and down the side edges (not at the slots, or it wouldn't have fit). This helped the replacements on the old fridge, so I am hoping it will help these to last longer. Not sure why I didn't do that with them when we first got it a year ago. But, here's hoping! This seems so wrong of the manufacturer to create 'disposable' parts for an appliance this expensive!
I received two bins as ordered. I could not use one because it was broken. I sent an email back to Parts Select about the bin broken in the shipment. Heard nothing back. I did not know that the door bins were different sizes for the top of the door & bottom 2 bins. So now I have one bin that fits, One that doesn't fit & a broken one that does not fit. Moral of the story? Take my money & send me a broken part & that does not fit due to Frigidaire having two different sizes. I have never owned a more noisy refrigerator in my life except the refrigerator a GE, that I replaced with this one. It got very noisy before it quit.
removed rear cover, removed screws, diconnected water line connections, cut off old water line connection, installed new compression water line connection, replace screws in water line housing, replace rear cover.
got replacement ice container with ice crusher and dispenser in the door. removed broken one and slid in the new one like a drawer and started crushing ice right away!!
Pulling the old seal was the easy part. The problem became dificult when I opened the seal package. Either Part Select or UPS had folded the seal in half. Witch caused the wire inside the seal to become crimped up. I used a pair of pliers "carefully" to straighten the wire as best I could. Luckly it worked, after pressing it firmly all the way aroud about 5 or 6 times. I'll still keep an eye on it for the next couple of weeks.
Installation was completed by following the online Parts diagram. Had to completely remove all parts, including the blades in ice crusher, and re-assemble. Glad the online diagram was clear and easy to read.
There was a hole in the plastic bin where ice fell through to the freezer.
I removed the screws that held the the ice dispencer from the bin. I than removed three screws from the bottom of the bin. I put the new plastic piece on the end of the spiral piece that pushes the ice. I inserted the spiral piece back into the hole. I than screwed the ice dispencer to the bin and re-inserted it back in the refrigerator. It took me about 5 to 10 minutes. It's really easy!
Ordered a new shelf which arrived very fast. Installed in no time at all as it just slides in and rests on brackets. No tools needed and the new part looks just like the original.
The fault code HI or H1 would periodically appear. Evap coil and fan would freeze over. I replaced evap fan motor, run capacitor, defrost thermostat, and temp sensor with no luck. I know Evap heater worked because I burnt my fingers on it. I noticed when I tapped on the front of the control panel to reset the fault, the evap fan would turn on. I assume the relay in the control board was intermittently faulty. I replaced the board and my fridge is good to go, finally.
Side by Side Freezer/Refrigerator - Refrigerator not cooling
While waiting for parts I removed the control and side panels, placed duct tape partly over the hole to the freezer to allow fridge cooling and left the panels lay inside plugged up while I monitored the fridge temp. This worked until the parts arrived.
1. Remove 3 hex screws holding (underneath) the front control panel to the top of the fridge. 2. Remove 2 screws holding the left side assembly. The control panel and the side assembly come down as 1 L shaped piece. 3. Unplug the large control cable and the small cable then remove the entire assembly. Note the position of the freezer sensor extending into the freezer. Separate the control panel from the side assembly to access the cable bundle. 4. Remove and replace the Damper Control Assembly. Note: You can remove the complete old styrofoam (glued in place) or cut the tape holding a 2 part styrofoam section that holds the damper in place and only replace the upper part. Be sure to tape the 2 styrofoam parts back together. Make sure the freezer sensor is placed properly on the Damper assy. 5. Remove and replace the old thermistor assembly, secure the wiring bundle and reattach the control panel to the side panel. 6. Place the entire assembly back inside, plug up the cables. 7. While supporting both panels insert the freezer sensor in the proper position and replace the 3 screws securing the control panel then the 2 screws securing the side panel. Check that the side panel is flush against the side after installation. 8 Wait about 12 hours for the temperature to stabilize.
The drum ice maker broke in half so it couldn't dependent the ice.
I had removed the housing that the drum was in and taken the screws out to get to the broken drum. I removed it there was a set of 6 blades that crushed the ice that had to go back on the same order when I removed these I put them on a piece of wire in the order they came off (so I would get them back I the correct order). Then I reversed the order and reassembled it in the opposite direction . It was fairly easy to do. I'm a 68 year old disabled woman so if I could do it I'm sure you could to. Good luck. It cost me $14.00 if I had bought the whole assembly it would have been $150.00. So it was well worth my time and effort.
