water leaking in freezer and creating icicles
The old ice maker came out very easy. Remove the ice tray and the upper shelf. Using a nutdriver, loosen the two screws that the unit hangs from and lift the unit up and over the heads of the screws. Then disconnect the electrical harness and the unit is free. To replace the new unit in the freezer, connect the wire harness and hang the unit from the two screws making sure the water feed tube directs into the fill cup. Then tighten the screws. The unit I installed had instructions telling you how to manually advance the unit. I did that so I could see the ice maker fill the first time and check that the ice maker did not overflow. The unit worked perfectly. I had also ordered a water inlet valve, but after replacing the ice maker, my problem was solved so I will be returning the water inlet valve.
