DCSR473GV1AA Dryer - Instructions

First, removed pedistal base (4 hex screws), removed top panel (3 screws, plus 2 screws), removed right side panel (several screws in multiple locations (bottom, top, rear and front), removed coil strap (2 screws), unplugged wire harnesses and replaced coils, reinstalled coil strap, right side panel, top panel and pedistal. Dryer is now working great.

It took a while to diagnose the problem. I finally figured out it was the door switch by pushing it with my finger with the dryer door open and starting the dryer. It would run like that, but the switch was not being pressed in enough by the door. I ordered the switch and I should have been able to replace in about 15 min. But the old switch broke while I was removing it and it fell back inside the unit. So I had to remove the top and the front panel to access the door switch. That's why it took so long. If that had not happened it would have been a much simpler repair.

Wife was out of town, visiting family. I broke the door strike by wedging the dryer door between the laundry room door, closed the laundry room door and it snapped the door strike breaking it. I ordered the part, and it shipped fast using the standard shipping, nothing fancy. Grabbed a pair of pliers and pushed the new door strike into place. It snapped right in, fits and works perfect like nothing ever happened. The wife will never know :)

I watched video supplied from parts select, only took about 30 minutes, hardest part was putting belt back on, couldn't fit hands in easily, but once I did it, dryer is like new, can't hear a thing.

I watched video from parts select, it was so easy i couldn't believe it. Only thing is it didn't fix noise completely, so had to order rear drum bearing kit. Definitely worth doing yourself.

Unplug dryer, unscrew bulb then replace with a new bulb. Plug dryer back in.

I found the repair videos on YouTube for my exact model of dryer and they made the repairs look easy, so I decided to do the troubleshooting and repairs myself. I figured it had to be the glides and/or the belt, and my husband told me he found the felt seal in pieces in the lint trap, so I ordered that part too. He told me he was afraid I would mess up the dryer, but I explained it was already messed up and convinced him to let me try. I followed the steps on the video and it was easy. The glides were warn down to nothing but the belt was fine, so I just replaced the glides and front felt drum seal. I needed a little "man power" to lift the drum to get the front back on, but other than that, a 5'1" middle aged woman did all the repairs herself! Thanks for the videos and the link to your website. I watched a video on PartSelect.com, opened up the dryer (that's the first time I had opened a dryer), found that the bearing was worn down, ordered the replacement parts for under $40, and fixed the dryer in just a few minutes. The whole process was much easier than I expected. I should have done it weeks ago.

Remove the two screws holding the door and lift straight up. Remove the two screws on oppostie side. Face can now be removed by pulling straight out at the top, then lifting face up off of tabs at the bottom. The two coils are at the bottom, held in by a retaining bracket. Remove the screws that hold the bracket. Replace the coils by unplugged their wires. That's it!

At first I thought it was the belt but when I took off top portion of dryer I saw belt was fine. I got to this site and found source of noise was drum bearings from postings. I ordered the parts and much to my suprise had it working with 15 minutes. Web site was very helpful.

I opened the box which contained the new selector knob. Placed it on my dryer and immediately turned the knob to start the dryer. Easy steps to follow the video supplied when i ordered the part. I am greatful you responded to my order within 3 days. Thanks

Watched video first, then diagnosed trouble. Went to internet for cost and avalible parts. Copied parts diagram. Very pleased with price and orderd parts assosiated with front drum. 4 days later parts arrived.

It was a fairly simple repair to perform with the dryer in place. I simply opened the bottom/front access panel to start, the door removes if you pull up after opening. Then I disconnected the two and three wire connector to the two coils. Next I removed the bracket screws that fasten the coils to the valve assembly. This was a little difficult with the screw closest, because of the small clearance and #1 sized phillips(stubby would work well.) The rear screw I managed to remove by using both a small flathead screwdriver(hex shaped shaft) and an adjustable cresent wrench. At this point, it was a simple matter of installing the new coils and the bracket, and then reconnecting the two plugs. It almost made me want to do laundry.

followed instructions that came with kit. The problem was the instructions were not very clear with regard to the "type" of burner. the "A" type with the slot is explained but the "B" without the slot wasen't clearly explained. Even that wasen't too bad (I had to re-do that part), But you need to be 20 years old to see the damned print. I had to use my reading glasses AND a magnifying glass to read them. Also with the "B" type burner, which I have, you simply install the limiter part and you don't need (can't) adjust it.

Had to tap three holes in the rear bearing to match the three attachment screws. Screw up with the part.
