DBXR463EB0WW General Electric Dryer - Instructions

I matched the flat part of the knob to the dryer part and pushed into place.

1) Disconnect power supply. 2) Open dryer door to find and remove two screws through dryer top. 3) Proceed to lift front dryer top panel and tap rear of dryer top with hand to left to disengage tabs and remove dryer top completely. 4) Remove two screws through front panel. 5) Gently lift dryer front panel from base tabs to partial remove panel (careful of wires which remain connected) - pivot front panel to left with wires connected. 6) lift dryer barrel with left hand / reach under barrel with right hand to release belt from tensioner pulley (very easy one-hand maneuver). pull dryer barrel belt off tensioner pulley towards you, remove belt from motor pulley below. 7) lift/pull and remove dryer barrel and belt (flex side panels). 8) take picture of wire connection locations on heating element and remove wires from tabs two locations / 3 wires. 9) remove sensors 3 locations. 10) remove heating element and housing. 11) install new heating element / housing and reverse process. .....tip; belt tensioner pulley was biggest challenge at first because it was hard to see how it all worked and reach. once i realized i could force / lift the barrel up to gain better access it was much easier than trying to fit my arm through the one large available hole at bottom right (when looking at the unit). the tensioner pulley is opposite side (left when facing) and you would have to reach over the exhaust, etc.

Safety first, unplug it. Open dryer door and remove 2 screws that secure the top of the dryer to the frame. Pull top toward you while lifting to remove the top. Remove 2 screws from inside the dryer that secure the front of the dryer to the frame. The screws are near the top and the heads are pointed toward the back of the dryer. At this point, I just opened the entire front of the dryer like a door and rested it against the wall. There are wires attached to the front, but I pivoted the front so I didn't need to disconnect the wires. The drum bearing snaps into place and it was a little tricky removing it. Same goes for the lower duct. Once the lower duct and front bearing were off, I removed the old seals and gaskets, cleaned the parts I was reusing, and installed the new gaskets and seals. I vacuumed all the dust and lint out of the inside of the dryer and reassembled in the reverse order. The front and top need to be wiggled to get them seated properly before replacing the screws.

After watching all the videos for repair, I removed the front door panel. Than located the slides and felt drum seal. All parts were very worn. All parts removed and replaced very easily. No more noise. Sensor working so much better.

First - I got help diagnosing the problem by typing in "Sqeaky Dryer" into YouTube - they have videos for so much in there, it is always where I start. The repair was simple - open the front door and remove the two screws just inside the door holding the front to the dryer top. Pull the top up and away. Remove two screws holding the front to the rest of the frame, but don't remove it. Just pull it out about 10 inches and let it lean out with either bailing wire or a straightened coat hanger. Unscrew the light bulb, remove the old drum with the slides, then put the drum back right the way it came out. Be sure to replace the slides whether it looks like they need it or not.

My son ordered the part, but gave up installing it. We called in a professional appliance repairman because the dryer had to be partially dismantled to remove the drum and a belt so three sets of holes could be aligned to secure the replacement diffuser. My daughter had to lend a hand to hold one piece in place while the repairman threaded the screws because the drum was too deep for him to be able to reach both front and back pieces. Definitely not a one-person job for this particular model.

Unscrewed 2 screws to take front panel off, tilt and pull to remove. Unscrewed 2 more screws on left and right sides ( inside at top). Unsnapped bearing, inserted bearing guides and snapped new bearing into place. Slid felt into place along bottom drum bearing. Reattached top and front panels. Done. Works perfectly now.

Followed the directions from the video about that particular part. I am 57 and it was fairly simple to do.

It was as easy as the repair film said it was . But after spending the money for the upper and lower baring seals I put it all back together and the motor started making a loud noise ? I took the drum and everything out and started the motor without the drum just the motor was running and the danged motor is going out now !I checked the price of a new motor its not to bad but with all of the parts I have put in this thing I could have paid part of what it would have cost for a new dryer ! I put it all back together and hope it last long enough to at least recoup some of what I have spent ,But the new parts work good !

I followed the directions on the video I uploaded.

The video was a great help, but when working on my general electric I removed the control panel screws and lifted the panel and the top and made it very easy then trying to get the top off without moving the control panel. Also, on general electric dryers covering the wires was a lint guard but using needle nose pilers going through the guard holes you can pull off and reattach the wires then using fingers. My repair time took longer then what was posted by others, I took time to clean all the lint ducts on the machine before putting it back together. Runs smoother, drys in less time, and the noise is down to a steady quiet hum.

I did as the video instruction showed me. I used the pliers and with one pull the metal piece came off and I just put the new knob on it did not take a minute.It was so easy. I am so happy to know that I can get my parts at a great price and do it myself. I have a service plan through my electric company that I pay a fee monthly and if I need services for any appliances there is an additional $25.00 for services and that does not include the part needed to fix my dryer. I ordered my own part with shipping and handling and it still came out less than $25 with no additional fee. I am very satisfied that I now can order parts and do it myself. Thank you PartSelet.

Unscrewed top of dryer. Unscrewed dryer door. Took off door, leaned it on my feet. I didn't remove wires. Slide off bearing from front of drum. Replaced bearing slides White and Gray on bearing. Put on new bearing. Screwed dryer door back. Replaced dryer top.

Ordered new part, part came in, snapped in to place. Took less than 5 minutes, the hardest part was getting the part out of the package.
