CYE3005AGW Magic Chef Dryer - Instructions

The repair video was very helpful. Until I started, when I discovered that the instructions did not match the design of my dryer. On my dryer, the top panel is secured by two bolts on tabs to the side panels. This puts them behind the front panel, so springing the clips does not help. They are there to hold the front panel to the top panel. Further, the front panel screws lie behind the bottom panel, so that has to come off first. Then the front panel. Then the top panel. All held on by 2 5/16 self-tapping bolts. A useful design feature. Beyond that, everything went according to the video. One other plus, the video plays without requiring the 3rd party software FlashPlayer from Adobe which is not allowed on my computer. So good choice for the video. One further note, at several points it was useful to have a 2nd person to hold parts while I loosened or fastened them, especially to hold the drum while I slipped the belt on the pulley.

I knew that it have to be worn out roller drums or the idler pulley with bearing. So, I ordered both items. I watched the repair video to know how to do it. I installed the items and the sound disappeared

found thermal fuse and checked continuity had none so fuse was bad. ordered new one from parts select correct fuse came quickly installed new one and dryer works like new.

I opened the base door and took out the heater panel and checked with an electrical meter. The high thermal fuse was blown out. I replaced the fuse and run it for five minutes, it was blown out again. I checked wires and nothing was wrong. I replaced another fuse and ran only three loads, it was blown out again. I though that it was a sixteen years old machine, I replaced the whole new heater panel with a new High Limit Thermal Fuse and a new Limit Thermostat. It ran good for 5 minutes test. I will know when I run a few loads in this Friday 4/25/14.

Used the Parts Select video. I also replaced the drum belt which I had ordered earlier. Repair went exactly as described in video. Belt looked fine but replaced anyway. Rollers and glides needed replaced. (Hint: felt pads for glides had come unglued and fallen to bottom of dryer-this was probably the main problem as glides no longer had support). I reused the same felt pads and glued them to bottom of new glides with Goop. You need O ring compressor and expander for rollers. Drum belt was a little hard to thread at the belt tensioner and video was not real clear. If you use left hand around left side of motor to guide the belt and right hand around right side of motor to compress tensioner, it worked great.

This part fit perfectly. I pulled the old lint filter out and put the new one in with no problems. The part no longer contains a felt seal so if that's your problem just pull the old felt seal off as it doesn't seem to need one.

When the dryer stopped working, I checked the two switches to see if they were good. The start button checked out OK but the switch on the door read bad. Ordered the part with the part number and put on when it arrived. Just a matter of disconnecting and reconnecting three wires. Very simple

the idler lever is what finally fixed the problem but i ending up changing out the belt drum rollers and the felt glide pads before i fixed what it was. truthfully though its not a bad thing replacing all the moving parts. the hardest part about the rollers was the removal of the snap rings i had a pair of snap ring pliers that just didnt seem to work all that great and i ended up taking a screwdriver to pry them open which i dont suggest but its what i had available. other than that the videos are spot on. not hard at all.

No work was required. I just slid the filter in a hole.

I only had to watch your video! The absolute BEST instructions ever. Your videos have saved me already $480 in repair bills in just one month. First my washer needed a snubber ring, and you had that video and then the dryer parts. Thanks again for being there!

I don't have the model number right now, but you video was fantastic.

After unplugging the dryer, I followed the video instructions but did a few tweaks. I used a straight blade screw driver and just pried a little to pop the top and fold it back. I used a nut driver to take off the front. There was enough play in the switch wire to just swing it to the side of the dryer. I also used the nut driver to remove the inner front panel, again just swinging it around to the side without having to disconnect the wires.. I pulled the drum out far enough to take the belt off and put it to the side. I tried to remove the idler lever without taking out the motor but it was very difficult so I unplugged the harness and moved the motor forward, that made removing the bolt and nut easy. I reassembled in reverse order as in the video except I put the belt on the motor and around the idler first and the worked it around the drum as I replaced the drum. If there is one thing majorly different from the video it was the dirt and grease, if your dryer is like mine be sure to have some good hand cleaner for when you are done. There was grease on the idler lever and it's attaching bolt as well as dirt everywhere. It was worth the time to vacuum out the interior while I had the dryer apart, but I wish I would have done it before replacing the lever.

First off you open the top of the dryer by pressing in the the 2 spring clips with a putty knife or metal spatula if you don't have a putty knife. They are located on the same side as the door. Then remove the wires and label them or take a picture of them so you can put them back on the correct terminals. Remove the 2 5/16" screws and the lift up and pull out on the front panel, set it aside. Remove the 4 5/16" screws on the front bulkhead(the thing with the lint catcher on it) this is what the felt ring is attached to. I used brake parts cleaner and a putty knife to remove the old adhesive. Use High Temperature Silicone or some kind of High Temp adhesive to attach the felt ring. Make sure to place the white side of the ring onto the adhesive. Also there should be a rounded face of the ring and a flat face, make sure the rounded face is facing outward. Bead a good amount of adhesive onto the outer ring of the bulkhead and work the felt ring around inch by inch. Don't rush this process or you will have a mess. If you do its okay just use a rag and the brake parts cleaner to wipe down any excess adhesive. Let it cure for 24 hours, otherwise it might make your clothes smell like the adhesive and possibly ruin them. Before replacing the bulkhead back onto the dryer, replace the drum glides. They should be on two brackets below the felt ring. These are important and if they are damaged or missing it can cause more serious problems down the road. Put everything back in reverse order. Make sure the drum and the drum glides are lined up properly. Test the dryer while its empty.

Replaced the (High Limit Thermal Fuse) & the (Limit Thermostat). Two screws to take off front of dryer, then I took out two screws on each peace, then switched the two wires on each peace done! Simple as that. I ordered the parts on Sunday night & received on Tuesday! All went great.
