removed the inside fridge electrical panel and swapped switches

easy pry out, disconnect wiring, connect on new switch and press in switch.

Both PartSelect and GE advisors told me to remove/loosen screws holding gasket to the door. This model has no screws. After pulling to old gasket from a corner (very difficult) I found that it is held in place by pressing it into a channel running around the door. Very difficult to line up the proper parts and very difficult to slide/adjust it into place. When finally installed, one corner of the gasket protruded so that the door was not flush and actually kept the door from closing. I tried to push/pull it into place. No good. Finally I tried to hammer the gasket back to make it flush. No good, as it evidently crushed the magnets providing the necessary holding power and produced gaps. I finally had to get foam window stripping plus heavy duty magnets to pull door to frame. Result: door closes OK but some moisture collects around door.

First I flipped breaker to off position for refigerator, Pulled down on socket and broke it free. Then took needle nose piars to pull wire and plug out from hole, so I could conect to new light socket then snaped it in place . Hardest part was getting wire and plug out of hole.

Pulled out old socket.pushed in new one.

Sears told me the part was no longer available. I came to your web site and then called your customer service. A very nice customer service lady helped me find the part. Very simple to pull the old one off and reinstall the new one with a rat trap behind the unit. Just in case it came back. Could have been a client but probably was a rat. I watched some videos online trying to find one that pertained to my door gasket and found a couple. After that it was a snap. The old gasket came off easy and the new one went back on easy. I did however submerse it in hot water first to kind of even things out.

I started removing the switch by prying on the right side with a screwdriver, when it emerged enough I used pliers to finish removing it. I then unpluged rhe wires from the bad switch and pluged them on the new switch and "poped" it into the hole.

Connected the 2 wires and pushed in the switch until it clicked.

Emptied freezes, turned off power, took floor of freezer out [4 screws ], took two screws out of fan mounts and replaces fan. Reassembled by reverse process. Simple

I ordered the part, within two days we had received it. My husband put the part in and I really don't know what he used doing so. All I know is that the light works now and we don't have to use the flashlight. Thanks a lot.

Gently pry out switch in door jam with screwdriver and pull both connectors off and put connectors on new switch then push switch back into the hole. Looked it up on the internet and video showed how to and also had link to new part, ordered and less than a week later the fridge is bright again. I have an older freezer also and it seems that they all use the same switches. Very Very easy
