I disconnected the old defrost heater removing 2 small screws and the electrical connectors, afterward I attached the new part, reconnecting back the electrical connectors and screwing the removed 2 screws.
Repair was not done using th part shipped. We went with the guide of the parts on the refrigerator. It would have helped if we could communicate (email or verbally)( with your parts center to verify the part we were ordering or on how to install it. We could wait for few days for a response. I am still waiating for instructions to return the part. It was a futile effort on both sides.
Your response would have helped tremendously..The picture was not adequate. Your group should be accessible to your customers.
Un Plugged the frig. Unlocked the socket by pressing down on the latch. Pulled the socket out ensuring I had enough slack. Unplugged the old socket installed the new. Plugged the frig back in. Tested the switch . Very easy-to-use.
I did not do the repair but observed a friend trying to replace gasket in refrigerator. It was a very difficult procedure. He works as a handyman so he knew what he was doing and had to manually fit gasket with some help with a hammer. Gasket did not go in easy and had to be forced to fit until job completed/
Was only two screws after that carefully took the part away unplugging the wires at the same time was plugging in to the new part and was done after 5 or 7 min
There was a warm spot at the front edge of dividing wall. The fan motor was not working.
I followed the directions of Steve on the installation video. He makes it easy to do the repair with his step by step description of the installation. I have repaired three different aging appliances with help of Steve and PartSelect's very helpful Customer Service. I wish Steve a wonderful retirement and hope PartSelect can find someone as easy to follow for future videos. The videos are priceless for the repairs.
Extremely easy repair, the hardest part was getting the old switch out. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze the tabs in and it came right out.
First I had to order the part. The part arrived quickly, but without mounting hardware or instructions. It was easy enough to determine the placement of the shelf, but had to locate mounting screws from the hardware store, drill two holes, secure the shelf.
