Worn Out Broken Door Latch
I would like to say first of all that I was amaized and pleased at how simple the ordering of this part was and while looking at the parts diagram on you website I noticed the door swing was optional and could be easily changed and the dryer came from the factory with a latch installed on both sides of the door. In our laundry room the dryer sits to the left of the washer and the door to the dryer opened to the right which has always been a slight inconvenience. . . So instead of changing out the broken part, I took the door and hinge off with my cordless screwdriver (6-8 screws) and turned it around and remounted it on the opposite side. . . Simple! I never took the new part out of the ups envelope. Now I have a spare so I taped the new part in the envelope to the back of the dryer in case I ever need it and now we have more convenience with the door swinging the correct way. Sweet deal! Took less than an hour. Thank you for making this task simple. Chuck g.

Remove and replace lint duct assembly
First, I watched the very handy video on this topic that was linked on the parts page on this site. Find this video and watch it if you're a newbie like me. My dryer was different than the one in the video (but the vid was still very helpful) in that the top does not lift and there are (2) panels on the front that need to come off - pretty straightforward machine screw fasteners removed with a nut driver, and they came off easily. I marked the wires to the light switch @ the door, and removed them. The duct assembly came out just as the video showed, but mine had (2) 3" - 4" sensor bars across the grill of the lint duct that I needed to transplant to the new duct assembly. Fortunately, the new assy was buit to accept them. I removed the wires, and you basically have to "work" the bars out of their snap in mounts. I used a small flat blade screwdriver and gently but firmly popped them out. Once that was done, it was easy to pop them on the new duct assy and replace the wires. While reinstalling, it took a little work (and patience) to get the new duct assy to slide over the blower motor flange, but I was able to get it to slide on, and then it was just fastening the 3 screws inside the drum area. Then replace the marked switch wires on the front upper panel, and reattach both upper and lower panels. Done! I only marked it as "A bit difficult" because of the sensor bars and getting the new assy attached to the blower an in the correct position. It is otherwise an "Easy" project.

dryer wouldn't start; buzzing sound coming from timer knob when turned to 'on' position
Using diagnostic information from the internet, I determined that the motor in my Amana clothes dryer was bad. I ordered the part, found an internet site that showed how to open the cabinet and access the old motor, and made the switch myself. The dryer now is working normally.

Blower wheel broken and rubbing on housing.
Removed front of dryer, first the lower then the upper front covers. Removed front drum support, front blower housing cover. Removed belt, and then motor with housing and blower wheel attached. Broke wheel and cover off motor, placed motor in vise to remove threaded nut from motor drive shaft (nut was seized). Reinstalled motor and belt. Installed new housing and blower wheel. Reassembled dryer. Note if old blower wheel had come off repair would have taken half the time and been significantly easier to perform.

Squeaky dryer
Parts arrived the next day, yes, that was super fast. All parts were as ordered, much appreciuated. The dis-assembly was the hard part, getting the dryer open and figuring out how to remove the panels was hard because it was unfamiliar. I watched the videos prior to starting the work which were a reall big help. Actually, I would not have even tried this if it were not for the videos. After seeing the videos, I thought to myself, I could do that. The repair solved the problem 100%. Also, got a chance to really clean out the dryer vents and other areas. THANKS!

The squealing dryer dilemma
At first - my dryer started softly squealing when it was running. Then it got louder, and LOUDER, finally it was so loud - I had to go outside if it was running. A little diagnostic work helped me figure out that I needed to repair the idler pulley. While I was at it, I decided to replace the drum support rollers and the drum glides. The parts were about $40 total, and they arrived in two days. TWO DAYS! I only needed two tools to do the repair - a nut driver, and a pair of slip ring pliers. It took longer to figure out how to take the dryer apart than it did to make the repair. It didn't come apart the way most of the videos I watched showed - but I eventually figured it out. Once I removed a few nuts - everything was easy. The parts were replaced in two minutes - it was THAT simple. The hardest part was putting the drum belt back in place, threading it through the pulley. I had to watch the video three times, to understand how it was supposed to weave. But - it was a simple repair, and I probably saved myself $150-200. I'd use this website without hesitation, for any future repair. If you're handy, you can do this stuff.

Dryer Would Not Start But Light Up
Followed the video from the same web site. If you don't think you can do the repair you are wrong. I ordered the two parts suggested just in case it was one or the other. Cost plus shipping was under $35. Helpful hint tackle the high limit thermal fuse first that's what was wrong with our dryer. If anything you have a good door switch on hand and still well ahead of the game. I'm glad my wife made me order it. Easy install. I sure it would have cost a hell of a lot more just to get some one to look at it and then fix it. I'm the type to just pay the money to get it fixed.
