replace the cook stove's drip bowls instead of cleaning them
I removed the burners and then the older drip bowls of the cook stove--and then I put on the new drip bowls and put back on the burners. My mechanical skills were sufficient for the replacement of the drip bowls.

surface burner stopped working. Was not heating up.
The repair only took me 10 minutes to do. I purchased the surface replacement kit from partselect.com. The part arrived in two days. The instructions were very simple. I read the instructions on line during my purchase. When I received the new part, I simply did the repair. Including shipping, the cost was less than $20.00. A service call would have been at least 5x the cost. Thank you for being there Partselect. (Tim from south bend indiana)

Vent Cover Corroded from Years of Use
1. Ensure oven is powered down and cool to the touch. For extra assurance, throw the circuit breaker to the range to OFF. 2. Pulling gently but with constant force remove the right rear surface burner element from its receptacle. 3. Remove right rear drip bowl. 4. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver remove the single screw that holds the vent cover. 5. Lift the oven top, it should latch open. 6. Remove the vent cover - you may need to pry it very slightly with a slot screwdriver if it has never been removed, it tends to stick from accumulated cooking smudge. 7. Clean up the area where the new cover will go. 8. Install the new cover and screw it snugly, but don't overtighten. 9. Using releases on latching struts, lower oven top. (Cautiously, so as not to pinch your fingers as the top drops!) 10. Re-seat the drip bowl and carefully plug the heating element back in, making sure it seats properly in both the electric receptacle socket and how it sits on the stove top drip pan. Done! (Don't forget to switch the breaker back on, if you turned it off.) I explained this in great detail, but it shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes to accomplish the whole task.
