Door spring mechanism failure
The hardest part was pulling the dishwasher out for the repair. I had to disconnect the water line to get the 2 feet required. Replacing the part took minutes. The springs were hard to extend in the limited space so I used pliers to pull them.

Wanted to match new ss stove
Removed about 8 screws. (Needed a "star" screwdriver for the screws.) Pulled the front panel off. It was stuck in places to the foam sound deadening instulation sheet, but taking the putty knife and sliding between insulation and old front worked pretty well. A couple of large pieces of foam cracked off, but once the front was off, I just used duct take and put them back together, then put on new front. One thought....if you want the old nameplate, which in my case was "KitchenAide" it would have been best to lay the old front on top of the new front to see where the holes needed to be drilled in the new front, and put the branded plate on before installing the new front. The name plate had two screws as part of the molded nameplate, which passed through the front and were held on with two friction nuts on the "inside" of the front. It isn't really needed, but it breaks up the solid front and looks nice. However, in my case, I didn't think to do that. So.....I cut the screws off with a hacksaw, smoothed the back with a file, and used epoxy to glue it on the new front once it was on. The epoxy seems to be holding just fine.

Door opens abruptly, not slowly. Takes more effort to close than it should.
The plastic hook on the door link kits for these dishwashers don't last very long. I don't know if it's bad plastic, bad design, or both, but I've replaced these three times now. The hook on the pulley side snaps and you get the symptoms described above. Others have done a good job describing how to do this repair. The only thing I'd add is that if this happens again I am going to have a replacement hook made out of metal at an online fabricator. The plastic is just not a good solution for that part. If this is your first time repairing this and only one side is broken, do yourself a favor and replace both sides now--the other side will be breaking soon :) And keep the part number somewhere handy--- you will need it again in a couple of years.

door would just drop down with no counterbalance in effect
I pulled out the unit, which proved to be the hardest part of the repair. Once it was out about half way I could remove the rope and pullies on both sides of the unit and then install the repacement units. Then I needed to stretch the springs and attach the rope clips. Spide the unit back in place and it works great.

Sound of a bearing wearing out, louder than normal operation
Removed the screws under the counter, retracted the leveling bolt jacks, turned off power to unit, turned off water supply to unit and made sure that all the water was out of the unit. Disconnect supply and drain lines. slide out unit from under counter and put protection over the door then lay it over onto the door. unplug the motor remove the screw that holds the motor in place, turn the motor counterclock wise, wiggle the motor in a side to side motion and it will come right out.(GLOVES ARE RECOMENDED FOR THIS OPERATION). Use cooking spray or olive oil on the O-ring. line up the arrow on the pump housing with the arrow on the pump motor and put the unit back together in the reverse order. Test the unit with a operation of a quick rinse to check of leaks. This is a very easy repair.

Installing a new dishwasher in a remodeled Kitchen
I remodeled my kitchen with new cabinets. In order to better utilize cabinet space, I located the dishwasher away from the sink, which means that I had to have a longer drain hose. The store I purchased the dishwasher from didn't have a longer hose, so I went online and found it on this website. Thanks for the quick shipment. I ordered it using standard delivery and received it in less than three days. I have book marked this website for future use.

Bottom Left Wheel Fell Off On The Upper Rack Rail.
Went to part select and found the part. Watched the repair video. Ordered the part. Came 2 days later. Very fast service!! Started the repair but found the dw would not just slide out as in the video. Took bottom panel off and found copper supply tube was connected and coming up from the basement below. Disconnected the supply line and replaced both wheel assemblies. Slid dw back in. Then the fun started! Went to thread the compression nut onto the connection and it would not thread. After about 7 tries, it cross-threaded. Called my friendly plumber. After one hour, he fixed it and all was well. Plumber told me that about 1 out of 3 repairs result in cross threading. There is a lesson here. If it looks too simple, it probably is very difficult.

Broken door latch on detergent dispenser
Very easy fix; simply opened the door and took out the dozen or so screws holding the door cover on. From there, just (carefully) unplug the dispenser from the wiring harness, remove the 6 screws holding the dispenser in place, and reverse the process to install the new one.
