Rubber coupling that turns blender blades disintigrated
Followed instructions that came w/ packaging. Used large screwdriver and needle-nose pliers to slowly pry old coupling off. ** Would be nice if a small flat disposible wrench the size of the shaft diameter was included. Would make things so much better and quicker!!

the coupling was worn and would not turn the blade.
I removed the old coupling, with some difficulty I imagine due to the age of the blender, I then simply screwed the new part counterwise as instructed and it is working perfectly now!

coupling falling apart
It took a while to pry the old coupling off, but after a little cussing under the breath and stick-to-it-ness the blender works fine. I was ready to throw the blender out but decided to go on the internet and look for the part I needed and was happy to see I would not have to buy a new blender. I was very surprised to see how fast I received the part and want to thank you.,

I carefully inserted a long screw driver into the cooling slots on the bottom of the blender to lock the motor. Then, with my hand, I turned the broken coupling CLOCKWISE to loosen. The reality is, the repair took 15 seconds

coupling torn up and would not engage the blender
simple instructions made it easy in 1-2 minutes just by prying the part with a screwdriver. Cleaned up metal threads that fell off and screwed on new part without tightening it down. Machine self tightens. Done!!

Blender's Hard Rubber Drive Gear Broken.
Repair parts instructions said to pry around in four places with screw driver between motors base and underside of drive gear and it should pop right off. Well it didn't and I had to go around many times being care full not to damage finish of appliance. Finally it came off leaving thread remains on the tapered threaded motor shaft. Using a scriber, I dug out and removed all thread remains and then easily screwed on the new replacement completing the job. The blender, a good one, now works fine again.

The coupling needed to be replaced
The most challenging portion of the repair was the removal of the old coupling. I ended up using a punch and a hammer. Tapped clockwise several times. It took about 20 times. Once the old coupling is removed the installation of the new was super-easy. Just screwed it counter clock wise by hand and was ready to go.

rubberized coupler broken
Directions included with replacement part were no help...maybe I'm stupid, but prying up on a threaded metal part didn't help unthread it at all.
Vise grips solved the problem. I used vise grips to remove the rubber from the coupler while it was still attached to the blender base, exposing the metal base to the coupler. (yes, I used vise grips to destroy the damaged coupler. after all the hell I went through to try to do it as the directions said, it was very satisfying.)
After removing the rubber, I used the vise grips to bend and distort the metal base until I could get a pair of needle-nose pliers around the drive shaft and hold it still while I unscrewed the now bent-up metal base. Victory!
I thoroughly recommend this method to anyone else, as using vise grips to destroy something is very gratifying.

coupling (base unit to mixing blade) desindegrated
As others have said, secure the motor by carfully inserting a scredriver thru the bottom of the base unit, with pliers turn the old coupling clockwise
(opposite of normal) until loose, spin it off, spin the new on counterclockwise, done.

Blender coupling failed
I followed the instructions that came with the part. I felt a little uneasy about prying the old coupling off, but it is soft metal, and worked off, slow and easy. Then it was a simple matter to screw on the new coupling. The blender works just like new again!
