Noticed the agitator was not engagine and slipping
Took the softener mechanism off by pulling upward. Pried off the cap to the agitator with a screw driver then removed the center bolt with a nut driver. This did take a little effort since it had never been removed. Pulled the agitator out of the washer and cleaned all the parts of any soap residue accumulated over the years. Took the agitator and stood it on the floor placing both feet on the sides and pulled it apart. there is a ring inside that popped out along with the top part of the agitator and the small cogs fell out. Cleaned the two pieces and replaced the cogs, holding the main part upside down lowered the agitator bottom into place matching the four grooves after snapping the unit together slide the cog cover into place and gently replaced the agitator back into the washer and replaced the bolt tightly. Then snapped the softener attachment back into place. This required a good bit of pressure but snapped right into place. Done job. Saved a lot of money and a simple fix to a problem. Agitator now works just as it should, no slippage at all. Took about 30 min all together. You can go online to find installation directions for any brand washer that has a full size agitator.

Poor agitation
Thurs. followed video directions, found the dogs to be defective and around 2 pm ordered dogs on line. To my surprise, on Friday around 11 am the dogs arrived. My husband installed them and the agitator is fine. I was so amazed at how quickly the dogs came. The machine was ready to go in less than a day. Thank you for your efficiency.

Leakt water pump
Forget the instruction book, it's too time consuming and it's a knuckle buster. Disconnect all hoses and lay machine on it's back. (Have plenty of rags to soak up the half gallon of water still in the pump). Use pliers to slide back hose clamps on pump and slide off hoses. Use screw drive to snap off clamps holding pump in place. Remove pump. Simply reverse process to install new pump. It nearly was one of my wife's 5 minute jobs she always has on her "Honey Doo" list.

direct drive water pump leaking
watched a video that showed how to repair that you had on your web site. also read some of the remarks that other people left on site, one was super easy. just laid washer on its back, unhooked both water lines from pump. unhooked both metal clips holding pump and pulled off. replaced new pump in reverse order. didn't have to go thru all the procedures of taking off the body or nothing. 15min job.

Clothes soaking wet after wash cycle completed
I followed the helpful video from PartSelect. Removal and Replacement of the Clutch Assembly was fairly easy. Just make sure you have enough towels to dry up any water that may come out after tipping the washing machine over. After Replacement the washing machine works like new. Thanks PartSelect.

Machine had been walking and vibrating for a couple of months during the spin cycles.
Looked on line and found the cheapest repair for my symptoms seemed to be the tub wear pads. Disconnected the washer, tilted it to where I could inspect the pads and discovered one was missing. So ordered a set, (Only complaint was the shipping was as much as the part). Parts arrived in 2 Days (!). Tilted the washing machine again...reached up with a small flathead screw driver and pryed the old pads off...snapped the new ones on (takes a little pressure, so eat your wheeties)...and job done. Stood everything back up and re-connected hoses, drain and plug...Works like brand new...Unfortunately for the wife who thought she was going to get a new one....LOL

Would not spin out all the water from clothes
Similar to the youtube repair video, followed it mostly. This model has a different plug in set up on top where the wiring is. Just unplugged a different plug in a different location. The other difference is that I did a lot of dusting and vacuuming of inside parts and around motor. Also used some spray on rust converter on some rust spots then coated those areas with spray paint. Also where wire harness hooks to the frame I taped up a longer section of the wire to keep the wires together so they could move around and not be damaged. The actual repair took about a half hour, but took more time taking the washer outside on porch then back into the house. Out side repair is better because a significant amount of water came out of the washer and drain hose when we tilted it on the back to remove motor and transmission. Just follow the youtube video instructions and most people should have little or no problems doing the job.

Upper agitator assembly quit working
Removed cap from top of agitator, then used socket and extension to remove bolt which attaches agitator to shaft. There was soap residue accumulated on upper and lower agitator so I decided to remove that residue first. It took about 30 minutes to remove the soap residue with liquid detergent and a dishwashing sponge. Next replaced the agitator directional cogs per the video and installed the new washer on the bolt. After the lower agitator was back in place, the new thrust spacer was installed and lubricated with silicone grease, then the upper agitator assembly was re-installed per the vido. Put the cap back on the agitator and now the old Kenmore is running like new again. Before discarding your old washer, try to fix it. The new "energy saver" machines use as much water and run twice as long to do the same job. With the videos and troubleshooting aids provided by PartSelect you should find that most Whirlpool and Kenmore washers are not very hard to repair.

Agitator didn't spin but everything else worked.
The youtube explanation on how to repair was great, especially the instruction to lift up on the bluish plastic ring (to detach the softener dispenser), and not to tighten the bolt too much when reassembling matters.

top half of the 2-part agitator slipping (not turning) due to stripped teeth on these cogs.
removed the softener dispenser, gently pried off the top with screw driver, loosen nut and lift off the unit holding the cogs. On our (Kenmore, series 90) there was a small retaining ring to hold the cogs in place. Removed retaining ring (no tools), and cogs (one at a time). Replace each old cog with the new one, being careful that it's not upside down or backwards. reassemble. test. rejoice! This $3 part plus $7 S&H - saved a $100 house call from the appliance repair man.. YouTube & PartSelect = super Combo! Thanks!
