The bake element had cracks in it and was almost burned through in a couple of spots.
I ordered the bake element on Monday and received it on Wednesday. Great delivery.
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires... Then I installed the new element using the steps above in reverse. Very clean and simple. One tip though...open your oven door slightly to the detent and pull straight up. The door slips off easily and allows easy access to the bake element screws.
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. I reattached them to the new element screwed it back in place and I was done. Could not have been easier! Getting the right replacement part the next day after placing the order was a pleasant surprise. This is the second time I used your company and I am very impressed with your service. I recommend you to everyone I can. Great Job!
The bake element actually melted and broke into pieces
It was realatively simple, turned off the power to the oven, removed the bake element , by loosening the two metal screws in the back of the oven, with a nut driver and removing the screws, then pulling the element outward, to expose the two wires ,that were connected to the element, using a nut driver to remove the two screws and a pair of pliers to hold the wire connectors, then removed the old element. Installed the new bake element, by connecting the two wires to the element, with the two screws, then pushing the element back in place , attaching the element to the back of the oven, with the two metal screws, finished with the installation, turned power back to the oven , and tested to make sure the oven worked , all done.
Tried contacting GE and no luck, they did not have vintage parts. After searching and locating Partselect, I was able to see a pic of the actual replacement part. I wasn't sure about purchasing online (1st timer) but decided to go for it!
I was able to track the package, although FedEX was setup to deliver to my resdient, I had the package addressed to my office but we worked that out also and walla.
I was very please and now I can bake my famous Pot Roast again. The oven was not working for 8 mos.
The Bottom Bake Element had burned out and would not heat
First I turned off the breaker to the stove in the breaker box and then removed the two small screws that hold the element in place. I then carefully pulled the element out about 3 inches and using a 1/4 inch socket, I unscrewed the screws that held the wire on the bake element. There were two wires held in place with 2 small screws. I made sure that when I unhooked the wires they did not pull back into the back wall of the stove. I then removed the old element and put the new one in its place, hooked the two wires back up, pushed it back in place and secured it to the back of the wall of the stove with the other two screws. I then turned the power back on and presto, it worked perfectly. Like new again. Thanks for everything.
Lower Baking Element burned out - needed replacement.
Repair went fine after I got the second element shipped to me. First element sent was DOA, so I called customer service and they credited my CC for part cost and shipping, then charged the new replacement to my account and mailed it out. Got it the next day. Repair was easy - turned off power to oven took out two screws holding element in place. Unbolted the two wires from element and installed new element. Oven element heated up cherry red and I am back to baking with an oven I thought was a gonner. Was impressed with customer service replacement process. It was fast and easy with no problems. Will buy again from PartSelect.com. Thanks
Use nut driver to take off shield. Pull out element to expose element and wire connections. Use nut driver to take off the 2 little screws. Remember what side is positive(red wire) and what side is negative(black wire). Put shield over the 2 wire and reconnect to element. Will need a standard screwdriver for the new screws. Slide wires into insulation and put back on shield.
