Replaced the cap over the door switch so when the door closed the switch was engaged

When I ordered the part, I viewed the installation video. That was a key step for me. It told me how to identify the correct part (there are multiple latch pieces in the repair kit, and one of them matches the type of door for the dryer), and how to disassemble the door to get the part installed. When the part came and I installed it, it turned out that I could snap the part in by hand, with no tools. It took about 5 seconds to try it, and it worked.

The dryer just stopped after a new load of clothes was put in. It appeared to be a power problem as there were not warnings, it just stopped. After checking the power, I suspected it was an electrical interlock problem. After nosing around, I traced the power to the dryer door interlock. Sure enough the switch was fine, but the mechanical lever was worn away. After Googling around for a replacement I found PartSelect.Com. Found the part, ordered it, and I am back in business. My wife is not happy though, as she wanted a new dryer:)

First, we unclogged the blocked duct (which, is apparently what burned up the heating unit in the first place!), then, we took off the front of the dryer panel; then we loosened up the heating unit's case and took out the existing heating unit. It was apparent why it wasn't working. You'll have to see yours for yourself. Then, we installed the new unit, put the heat shield back on, closed up the dryer and turned it on. No heat... oops because we forgot to put the electricity to the unit... so we took the panel back off, then plugged the wires up to the heating unit, as we should have the first time, closed up the panel, and voila! The dryer was working again, and for a major fraction of the cost of replacing the thing! 45 dollars instead of 800. Well worth the time! And the 14 year old did the repair. Explains the first plug in mishap, but also taught him a good skill!!!

I first noticed that the tab of the door switch snapped off so the safety on/off switch did not work when the door was closed. I temporarily taped the switch closed so I could use the dryer. I found the model number from the unit and easily found the schematic and part description from the website. I placed the order and had the part in a few days. Problem solved. Thank you

Remove two screws holding front panel of dryer. Heating element is on right side, in a protective tube. Remove the six wires connected to the tube, noting their placement. Remove two screws from front metal bracket holding in the tube. Pull tube out. One screw is holding the heating element in the tube, so remove that and you can replace the element. Then reverse to put it all back together. Clean out all of the lint inside the dryer.

Followed the instructions from the Whirlpool Technical Service Manual available online

Took top of d then dryer loose then replaced switch actuator put dryer top back in place. Not that hard.

It was very easy to repair and the 1-800 number is a grat resource for assistnat in locating the part.

Took 5 seconds, just snapped in the slot, didn't need any tools.

Removed the lower front cover of the dryer. Removed the lint filter and removed the cover from the air duct by removing two 1/4" bolts. Removed the two 1/4" bolts retaining the thermistor. Installed the new thermistor and covers.

I opened up the bottom of the cabinet and found some evidence of burned lint in the heater box. I ohmed out the thermostats and they were good. Then I ohmed out the heater coil and found that it was an open circuit.

first turn off the power supply then ..removed the lower front cover. .removed the heat shield that covers the element. .. removed the element and replaced with the new one ..

Being from the old school where we never assume to know what the problem was, so took out the heating element to inspect which I found that the element had a broken coil which confermed my suspicions. I ordered a new element on Saturday from paRts select on Saturday and recieved it on Wednesday Ann the rest was a matter of reassembling which was a breeze since I foot plenty of pictures.

I ordered the Part on Wednesday night, it arrived on Saturday, and was installed by Monday by my husband. This was the best service I have seen in a good while. Kudos to you!
