Ice Maker Door Not Operating
Remove Water tray. Unscrew 2 Phillips head screws at bottom of unit. The dispenser unit hangs from hooks at top.Remove plug to get front unit out of the way. There are now 4 1/4" hex head screws which holds the entire assembly. 2 smaller Phillips head hold the motor in place.I discovered the only things that can go bad are the Motor unit and the door itself. The motor is joined together with it's own 'transmission'. If door doesn't open or close, rest assured it is this motor/gearbox that is bad. The motor comes with a wire harness which is about 12 inches long. In order to remove and install, the entire dispenser unit must be unscrewed to unroute and reroute this harness. My fridge had a small foam tape which was used to help with the harness run. I had to slice thru this foam to get the harness out. I used a piece of scotch tape to close this foam back after I installed the new motor.

ice maker was not working
I called in a repairman, who wasn't sure what the problem was but suggested it "might" be the electronic control boards. He charged me $55 for the service call, which I initially thought was reasonable. Then I found your website purely accidentally. I watched the video several times and read all of the comments posted. I then decided I would wait to see what the repairman would quote me for the part and the additional labor charge. He told me the part was $125. and the additional service charge was another $75. I decided to order the part, which arrived in 2 days. I am a woman who has never repaired anything on my own, but I decided to take a chance with this. It took me about 20 to 30 minutes to install both parts and within a few hours the first ice cubes fell. I was so proud of myself and very pleased that I found your website. The price of the part was reasonable, the video was very straightforward and all of the comments were extremely helpful. Thank you.
