10645423801 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I followed the instructions on the information sheet provided as well as watching a demo video on YouTube. Actual replacement of the emitter and receiver boards took only 5 minutes, but I was not sure it was working till I could here the ice maker harvesting the cubes. Still wanted to be sure so I kept an eye on it for a few hours. Each time I looked in there was more ice. I am so glad I found your website. Parts were about $106. Labor would have cost that much and the repair guy I talked to on the phone said he would probably have to replace the whole unit.

I read the other replies and decided to replace the boards. It worked!!!! Ice right away!!! I would have only needed to chafe that if I didn't muscle the ice maker arms around in frustration and brek it!!! This website is great!! Parts came fast and accurate !!!! Thanks parts select !!! I had ordered some other parts for something entirely different off your website and service was great. So after almost ten years of a dark refrigerator, because of a defective switch, I decided to see if you had the part to fix it... You did and the part got here in 3 days. I had a working light switch and all the light in the world where my husband needed it most (in the fridge). It took me at the most ten minutes to replace the part. All is well now and I have a happy husband who can find the leftovers just fine. Thanks for your great service!

Remove ice storage container from inside freezer. Remove philips screw from the coupler underneath ice storage container. Removed coupler and flat washer. Installed new plastic coupling and metal flat washers. Relaced original coupler and screw. Tighten screws very carefully. Installed ice storage container and filled it with fresh ice. Ice is now coming out when the level on the outside of the freezer door is pressed. Yeah...

Turn off power to the frig. Remove the shelves and back brackets from the freezer, then with a 1/4" nut driver remove the nuts holding the rear metal panel in place. Once removed the defrost thermostat is right in front of you. You will have to clip the wires from the old t-stat because they are in a harness. Once clipped, strip the wires back, wire in the new t-stat, add wire nuts and put it all back together. Very easy job to do, works great. Thanks Parts Select, Mike.

Unplugged refrigerator, took panels off each side of ice maker, unplugged bad components and replaced with new ones. Returned panels, plugged refrigerator back up. The ice maker began making ice almost immediately.

We tried repairing with a new switch which was very easy to install but it didn't fix the problem.

The glass cover came on time and in good packaging. I removed it from the packaging and slipped in to the shelf. It fit perfectly and was extremely easy to do. We are very pleased with the entire process. Thanks

Remove ice unit to take out ice. Remove both boards and replace.Had to unplug refig to thaw out water line because it froze when unit would not make ice.

After reading (Warm air getting into freezer) by David from Chesterfield, MO & (Ice door was broken) by Ray from San Antonio, TX, it was easy to follow their instructions (especially- Patience is a virtue! and go step by step. Removed a total of 12 screws, unplugged the control boards, plugged-in the new control boards and replaced the 12 screws.The FAQs section of the PartSelect troubleshooting guide helped me correctly identify the control boards as the source of the problem. The LED sequence was the key to identifying the problem.

The plastic "wiper" attached to the bottom of the ice "auger" in the ice dispenser unit broke. (It was made from a plastic that was not up to the freezing temps and heavy ice loads it had to move.) The new unit seemed to be of a different type of nylon/plastic. Problem was that the small machine screw at the bottom of the auger assembly could not be removed because of corrosion. I had to drill it out. Choices then were to purchase a new auger for about 60 bucks or reassemble the unit with a new 6-32 machine screw. There will not be enough metal left to allow it to be tapped so simply clean it out well and glue in the new screw with JB Weld. Allow to cure over night and you're back in business. Ours works fine so far. Good luck!

Per instructions in video. Super easy. Spent 45 min. cleaning ice/water dispenser and ice maker tray. Spent 15 min. replacing ice door.
