Replacing it was very simple: remove the top door hinge by unscrewing three nuts; lift the door off the lower hinge; unscrew and remove the lower door hinge; screw the new plastic lower door closing cam on to the new door hinge; screw the new lower door hinge; lift the door back on to the lower door hinge; screw the top door hinge.

After unplugging the appliance I removed acess cover on back of fridge with a screwdriver, pulled the overload start device straight off the compressor, unplugged the red/ white factory pre-terminated conductors and replaced the bad start device. Took about 2 minutes. You must remove as much of the dust and lint from condenser element to keep this from happening again since heat will build up and fry the overload again.

Whirlpool refrigerator laid down on us on a Friday morning. Local repair center would not be out until Monday noon. $89 service charge plus labor and parts estimate. Golly Miss Molly! Diagnosed problem through PartSelect forum and ordered the part at 2:50pm that day[Fri]. New compressor part arrived at 2pm the next day [Sat].INCREDIBLE delivery time!Up and running 10 minutes later. Thanks PartSelect. My faith in Corporate America{gosh, maybe even mankind] has been restored.

Replaced the door cam on bottom of fridge door. ONE THING TO UNDERSTAND- THERE ARE 2 CAMS ON THE DOOR, LOWER AND UPPER, BUT THE UPPER CAM IS NOT LISTED ON THE "DOOR HARDWARE" DRAWING, ITS LISTED ON THE MAIN BODY DRAWING! BE SURE TO GET BOTH CAMS! (PARTSELECT COULD MAKE A NOTE THAT WHEN PEOPLE LOOK UP LOWER CAM, PUT A NOTE IN THERE SAYING Y0U NEED UPPER TOO!)So I had to order the upper cam later and install later. BUT it is quite easy to replace, unlike the video, I only needed 1 tool! The nut driver (electric screwdriver w nut driver head). Thanks -RF

I removed the cover for the lower part of the refrigerator to inspect the wiring and motor. I removed the switch and removed the wiring from it. The wiring just plugs in. When the new switch arrived, I just reinstalled it to the side of the motor and the refrigerator has been working fine ever since.

I removed 4 screws holding the motor mounting bracket and removed the assy from the unit. I then removed 3 screws holding the motor to the bracket. I put the fan blade on the new motor and reattached the motor to the bracket. I plugged in the wiring adapter to the motor and reinstalled the bracket in the unit with the 4 screws. Finally I attached the unit wiring connector to the motor.
It was relatively easy.

First I installed a defrost timer, (the old timer had burnt out contacts in it) It seemed to work for a few days, then went back to not comng out of defrost cycle, I then installed a defrost thermostat. It seems to be working better than before. I found out that maybe I wasn't running it cold enough. So I turned it up colder. Now it works ok for 2 - 3 days, then I check the Temp in the freezer and its up to 6o. So I manually reset the timer and it works for 2 - 3 days. Don't know what to do now to fix it.
