ice maker quit working
I tried to put in the model ice maker sent to me but it was not an exact match to the one I was replacing. The water fill cup on the upper right side was too tall to fit over the rubber fill hose so I had to take the old ice maker apart and swap it with the new cup. Then I installed the new maker but it did not work over night. I took it back out and disassembled it and saw condensation on the electric motor housing which had turned to ice. I figured that if there was ice on the outside then there was probably some on the inside as well. I used a hair dryer to evaporate the ice/moisture and then re-installed the unit. It has worked fine ever since. I do not think that I needed the entire ice maker unit but just the timer motor. I could have saved some money and time if I had known that the motor was available by it's self. The shipping was fast for the unit but look over the unit that you are replacing and make sure the picture of the new unit is IDENTICAL to it. Watch the video PartSelect offers and it will help you a lot.

The heat element went out.
I thought I would have to have a serviceman replace the unit. After watching your video, I thought I would try it. It was much easier than I had imagined. If it wasn't for your video, I probably wouldn't have tried it. Thanks for your help. I will definitely check with your company first, for the next repair odyssey.

ice door would not seal warm air out & ice maker would freeze up.
After reading (Warm air getting into freezer) by David from Chesterfield, MO & (Ice door was broken) by Ray from San Antonio, TX, it was easy to follow their instructions (especially- Patience is a virtue! and go step by step. Ice Maker Did Not Make Ice
Removed a total of 12 screws, unplugged the control boards, plugged-in the new control boards and replaced the 12 screws. The FAQs section of the PartSelect troubleshooting guide helped me correctly identify the control boards as the source of the problem. The LED sequence was the key to identifying the problem.

Installing new "wiper" at bottom of ice in-door ice dispenser
The plastic "wiper" attached to the bottom of the ice "auger" in the ice dispenser unit broke. (It was made from a plastic that was not up to the freezing temps and heavy ice loads it had to move.) The new unit seemed to be of a different type of nylon/plastic. Problem was that the small machine screw at the bottom of the auger assembly could not be removed because of corrosion. I had to drill it out. Choices then were to purchase a new auger for about 60 bucks or reassemble the unit with a new 6-32 machine screw. There will not be enough metal left to allow it to be tapped so simply clean it out well and glue in the new screw with JB Weld. Allow to cure over night and you're back in business. Ours works fine so far. Good luck!

The old condenser fan was rattling and driving everyone nutts.
I surfed partselect and read that a reader had a similar problem with a rattling fan. I then removed the back panel, after I had unplugged the unit, and was able to feel the slop in the fan shaft. I then watched the video of how to replace the fan and ordered the part soon after. The part arrived 3 days later! Easy to do. I was finished in 12 minutes and the fridge runs silently. The part of the job that took the longest was vaccuming the undercarriage. There was alot of dust! Couldn't have helped the efficiency on the fridge. Keep it clean.

The icemaker would occasionally dump the ice in the tray. I could unfrost the tray and then it would seem to work for a couple of times and then stop again.
I removed the old icemaker and tore it apart as much as I could to see if I could see anything obvious. I also took a resistance reading on the heating coil in the bottom of the icemaker. It was good. I then hooked the old icemaker back up with the end cover off. The plastic wheel on the end of the ice maker did not move. I then ordered a new ice maker, installed it and it has worked perfectly ever since.
