Open freezer door and close flap on the left being sure not to block the infrared beam. If red light goes solid in a few seconds the Emitter receive and xmit boards are good. Unplugged fridge, Took the ice machine out took off the motor/controller cover and jumpered the two test points together with a short length of insulated wire. place the ice maker back on bracket to free up my hands and plugge in the fridge, turned ice maker on. Closed the flap and ensured red light was on solid and I was not blocking the beam... the motor control wheel did not turn slowly/cycle as it should have with the jumper inserted... Motor/controller assembly was bad. Pulled out icemaker and noticed some corrosion in the ice tray so ordered the entire ice maker instead of just the motor/control assembly... cost only about $30 more. New ice maker arrived and I installed, took about 10 hours before it got cold enough and began making ice.

Watched the video accompanying the ice maker replacement part. Took 6 minutes. Then, having gathered my two recommended tools, moved to the fridge. Had the new replacement installed and working in 4 minutes. Doesn't qet any better than this.

Temperature in freezer too cold. Temperature display showed higher temperature than actual which caused the freezer to continually run. Thermister is found behind a white box on wall in freezer. Unscrew the box from wall and easily disconnect the thermistor clamp. Replace in reverse order.

just sapped in place.

I have some electronics background but your listed problems helped me narrow down the problem. I ordered the part, removed old part, installed new part (maybe 15 minutes total) and my icemaker started dumping the ice that was in the tray within 20 minutes and making more. I called a repair man out to see what the problem was because my husband just died and I didn't want to pay such high prices for a repair. He told me I needed a new motor for the ice maker and it would be a total of about 305.00. I couldn't believe the price. It cost me 59.99 for his diagnosis. I went to your web site and found the part and watched you installation video. I am 65 years old and I was able to install the new part in less than 15 min. The part was about 95.00. I saved 150.00 by doing it myself. I will always look on line before I have a repair man do a job. I may need them to diagnose the problem, but I will try myself before paying such outrageous fees.

replace the emitter and receiver which is located on the left and right side of your freezer when you open the door. use a crosstip head screwdriver remove the 3 ea. screws on the emitter frame ,dothe same for the receiver. replace the electronic boards and reinstall.wait at least 30 minutes and listen for ice to drop in the ice bucket.

Watched the trouble shooting & installation videos , checked to make sure water was getting to the door. I look'ed closely at the entire unit. Every thing seem'ed to be ok. I made a guess as to which part to order. The control motor or the thermostat. The control motor made more sense to me. I made the right guess. Works like new.

I couldn't figure out if the front plate would come off so getting access to the screw to unscrew it was problematic at first. I don't have whatever tool you need to get at that angle so I used an Allen wrench with a 6.5 mm socket to unscrew the screw and replace the clip. After figuring that combination out it went really fast.

Parts Select has great videos that describe step-by-step how to perform the repair. I did a sloppy job of diagnosing the problem, and concluded it was the water valve. The actual problems was that the ice maker was not sending a signal to the valve to send water. I could have determined this if I had tested the ice maker using all of the connection points where a jumper wire could be inserted. The ice maker arrived on my doorstep exactly when promised, and was an easy ten-minute fix. My conclusion is that an average person CAN work on their own appliances with a company like PartsSelect to backstop them.

Watched video, used putty knife to remove front panel, unplugged wired and then took old arm off, and replaced it with a new one. Also disconnected electricity before repair. Thanks for the tips, fast shipping, and helpful video.

Just remove old one which was really easy since it was practically falling off and replace with new one. It is a bit tricky because you are afraid of breaking the new one. Watch the video and you will be more confident. I was REALLY impressed with the shipping. I ordered on Monday afternoon and when I returned home Tuesday afternoon it was waiting for me on my porch , and this was the week between Christmas and New Year when everyone was fussing about not receiving packages. NOT ME!
