Over time, spills and other food material leaked down into where the stove heating element seats into the socket. Eventually, the metal plugs inside the socket/receptacle shorted out - eating away at the thin metal connectors. I replaced both of them with the "Surface burner Plug-in Block Kit". Also ordered new Drip Bowls for all four - wow! How shiney do they look now! Replaced a stripped out knob as well.
