After unplugging the stove, I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. Then I pulled the element out a couple of inches and disconnected the two wires that are connected to the two ends of the element. When the new element arrived I simply reconnected the two wires, then reconnected the element to the back of the stove with the two holding screws and plugged the stove back in.
