No tools needed. A bit of a challenge to use my fingers to gently pry down the upper water feed so I could insert a new pin into the hole from above. It was also a little difficult to have the strength to squeeze the two parts together in such a tight space. There were no instructions included with the part but I referred to the diagram on your "Parts" page and figured it out. Very important to cover the bottom interior of the dishwasher to avoid losing the tiny parts down the drain. Not a bad job for "Josephine the Plumber"!
