Had this problem before with my GE side by side refrigerator. I noticed that GE has updated the part - now having 2 bulbs instead of one. Obviously the problem is not rare. Opened the back panel of the freezer - 4 screws. There was ice buildup on the components so I used a blow dryer to defrost the ice. Not the best idea but I was in a hurry. Removed the old unit (2 screws) and installed the new unit following the very good directions that came with the new part. The new part requires both wires on the right side so had to splice the left wire with the white wire that came with the new part. Put everything back and worked like a charm. It pays to give it a try yourself and save a lot of money. Also the part arrived at my house the next day using standard shippping. this is the best parts site on the net.
